It is difficult to get Riamet here in the US as it is mostly sold in Europe for travlers to malaria pron areas. So maybe that is why there is not much experience with it here.
I am considering using this since 6 months of mepron/zith did not rid us of babesia.
Any info will be very helpful.

oops!
Lymetutu
We took it and many patients who are treated by our doctor have taken it, starting from the time the medicine came out a few years ago. Sometimes it takes more than one course. Sometimes one course is enough to eliminate symptoms.
Riamet is the same med as Courtem that was developed for Third World Countries and is distributed by the World Health Organization to these countries for little money. It is artemesinin combined with an antibiotic.
Other people talked here about the "danger" of certain anti-malarials. I sometimes wonder how dangerous the taking of antibiotics for several years is? Give me a break! Sorry.
If you are harboring heavy metals, Riamet might not work totally. It may be of some help, but not totally. The damage mercury has done prevents many meds from getting to the places where they are needed. The road is blocked. So if none of the meds work, heavy metals should be your next consideration. Lyme Disease has taught me that many different and damaging microorganisms are invited by heavy metals into the body. I won't get into the subject who invited the heavy metals. You all should know that by now.
The cost for Riamet from Germany, via a most legitimate pharmacy my father used to deal with - not a fly-by-night type - right now is approx. $70. to your mailbox.
The med itself for one course of 24 tablets is 46.00 Euros, and with the poor dollar value right now and postage only (they don't charge for handling) it comes to approx. $70.
The schedule for taking it is in German in the insert. I can post the schedule for taking it - in English - if anyone needs it.
It's simple. You take all 24 distributed over 2 1/2 days (60 hours). I will post the exact schedule. It's not taken at the same time invervals. That's one course. If you still show symptoms a few weeks later. The course can be repeated. But not immediately.
As I said before on other posts, it works for many patients that are under my doctor's care. But they are also, almost exclusively being treated for heavy metals, because all Lyme patients have a problem with heavy metals in their system. There is literally no exception. And until the heavy metal load starts to be reduced, nothing else is totally successful. It just isn't.
Take care.
I re-posted this topic because I wanted to hear from others who have taken this medication to get more opinions on this particular drug, as it is not discussed much on this forum. I greatly value the second opinion, third, and fourth . . . opinions.
Additionally the pharmacy you gave me is only in German, which cannot be translated. It would be greatly appreciated by me and I'm sure others who decide to go this route if you could post the dosage time intervals you used.
But the main question I am still seeking an answer to is that this drug only kills the protozan in the blood stream, and some think babesia has a liver and lymph node stage. So I am wondering what to do about that. "Pbeck" a few years back posted about using doxy and Artemos (which in no longer available to purchase) to get rid of it in the blood and other unknown stages. I have not been able to contact her, or have been able to find any medical abstracts that addresses this. Per the CDC site and many articles I've read there is only a blood stage, hopefully that is the case.

You are right, Meds4yourhealth is cheaper, by about $70. I will order it through this site too.
I am doing Artimisin with zith right now and will probably do this for one month, then I will do the Riamet. We are going on vacation (for a work related thing) next week and don't want to take any new drug right now.
Please let me know how it goes and what you think. Thank you for your help.

if you call 01149 - 89 595444, ask for a person who speaks English (probably most of them do), and ask how you can get it.
Riamet is a prescription item. They are 9 hours ahead of us counting Pacific Standard Time, and you need to call during business hours.
I will be happy to dig out the schedule for taking it if someone has the tablets and can't figure it out from the insert.
There are several people who used to post on this board, who have taken Riamet. They are patients of my doctor also. The do no longer post here. Why? -- I am sure one of the main reasons is that it gets very tiresome if people ask the same question over and over and over again; then first doubt, dissect it, sit back and do nothing, and then come back a year later and ask the same question all over again.
I have told you that many of my doctor's patients have taken it. Everyone of them, however, is ART tested on it before they do.
That is the determining factor.
I know all of them are still very much alive and a lot better than they used to be.
If you have a doctor whom you can trust, why not ask him/her. Nobody has taken it without it being ART tested, recommended and prescribed. If a patient does not test positive for it, the time is not right. Other things need to be done first. Many reasons.
Hope you solve your problem.
Take care.
To GiGi- thanks for all of your posts; I follow all of your advice. I am having all my fillings replaced this week, I am taking Clarkia for intestinal parasites, I stopped the N-acetyl choline and ALA that my LLMD prescribed, and I am learning about cleansing.
See, we are listening....so there!
