Does anybody juice on a semi-regular basis?

What are some of the things you juice and for what purpose?

Remember that juicing carrots [for example] puts alot of sugar in your system. Beware the yeast beast!

I hear dandelion has good uses....??

Hey Lymetutu

Thanks for the input..do you know if I have to be concerned about yeast if I am getting bicillin injections?

Good grief! I can't believe I don't know the answer to that! Well, yes, I CAN believe that!

I would think that you might still have to be careful because your immune system is probably impaired. [esp if you've had Lyme for awhile]

I know I had yeast before I began abx therapy.

What kind of juicer do you have?

If you decide to juice, make absolutely, really, really sure that the fruits and veggies you are using are sound, organically grown! If you use the regular stuff, you get pesticides in such high concentrations - who needs more arsenic, etc. in their system.

If you use organics only, you should eat the pulp throughout the day. The best nutrition is in the pulp, the fiber. Fiber is no food to us, but it is food for the microorganisms - usually the good ones. They make butyric acid out of it and other very valuable things that we need for our healthy function.

When you juice, you do really a bad thing. You are extracting the nutrient content from the vegetables and are throwing away the fiber. Make a glass of juice every morning, take the fiber and put it in a jar and eat it throughout the day. If it seems a bit dry, add a few drops of the juice to make for easier eating.

It is incredible what that does to the microflora. The butyric acid content in the stool goes up like 1000% in a few days; also the amount of beneficial bacteria. It nurtures the good bacteria and the balance between good and bad is shifted very rapidly.

Use only organics! I juiced many years ago thinking that would be good for me - my heavy metals went up - my arsenic went off the chart. It took me several years to detox the stuff. Be smart about it!

Take care.

Yes, I juice. I use parsley, ginger, celery, cucumbers & carrots mostly (not many carrots). Sometimes I will add 1/2 a Granny Smith for flavor. Kale & spinach work well too.

Yes, you still have to worry about yeast while on Bicillin. I am on it too.

As for juicing and extracting the pulp, it depends on the juicer. Mine is an Omega 1000 & it does extract the pulp, which I sonetimes use as a broth base. But, there are other juicers on the market (I think Veggie-man?) that does not separate the pulp from the juice. I go to a little local health food store that has one of these juicers and when they hand me the cup of juice it is thick with pulp and very yummy.

Yes, use only organic. But, really wash it well, as organics are grown with natural fertilizers - poop in many cases. So there is a small trade off for having no pesticides.

Enjoy.

Shelley:

That's the one I was thinking of - Vitamax. New, they are real pricey. But, they leave all the pulp & skin in the mix. I like the thick pulpy drink.

We use a little 3- cup chopper/blender, Black & Decker (Model EHC650) from WalMart (the only place that seems to carry it) for $14.95. It has a bottom, the knife, and the tiny motor sits in the lid.

I add a little organic juice or a little water to the fruit or veggies and run it for a few seconds to as fine as I want it. This also dilutes the fruit sugar a little.

It also makes the most delicious desert in less than 30 seconds. In winter: any frozen fruit and a healthy shot of good organic whipping cream = THE BEST DESERT - like ice cream without the sugar and junk. In summer - we use fresh. Let your imagination run wild!

It cuts onions, garlic, parsley, etc. in seconds, for things you put in soups, other dishes. Salad dressing with good oils, herbs, etc. The list is endless.

I use it to make raw apple sauce in the morning for breakfast. Apple a day! I started this to mix in supplements that come in powder form such as mucuna or mastic gum, etc.

This little gadget is always on my kitchen counter. I use it several times a day.

Take care.

P.S. It makes for a great baby or shower gift. Some patients use it to make chlorella smoothies for children with banana, etc.

Hey everyone

I just read in Newsweek last week that celery contains over 20 anti-inflammatory properties..so I have been adding extra celery when I juice..

I agree with Gigi, eat the pulp.

You can jazz it up by adding minced carrots etc for crunch, or coarsely ground nuts or seeds of choice and a little salt.

Consider it a spread, or dip, just eat it - its good stuff!

Thanks Dolphin Lady

I was supposed to start eating the pulp today, but since I juiced with a lot of fresh garlic,,I decided not to...I will try tomorrow...

Juicing can be very good for you. For nite
blindness i juiced a 5 lb bag of organic
carrots daily for 3 months.Totally worked
for me. Put some garlic or ment for a change.
I also peeled the carrots first and had
it on the rocks. The candida thing is a good point also to keep in mind. -Bottoms up-
