my symptoms started back in july, numbness, tingling , doc said i was classic acute lyme . i still drive and work. but hand has been stiff since july . neck is stiff tonite . i have a erlichiosis also and am taking minocycline. i have been on oral abx's since july . i had a relapse in december after trying to get off meds for 10 days . it took a month to recover. i feel like going to iv's may penetrate deeper into my brain and central nervous system and give me a better shot at kicking lyme . in other words i started off with a few symptoms but in 6 months time the disease has progressed thru my body . i feel like i am running out of time to kick this disease, thats why i am considering to going to IV's. i would like to kick this disease out of my body in the next 6 months. has anyone known anyone who has actually kicked lyme disease and gotten off antibiotics? jake

Hi goldenjake,
I'm sorry you had a relapse in December. It can time to get rid of lyme..or go into a remission. I do know of people who are off abx, some of them do not post here anymore.
Hang in there and good luck to you.

Sure, it happens all the time! but don't expect too much too soon. You need to continue the meds until you are symptom-FREE for at least two months.
IV may be what you need, but orals can get you well also. I've had Lyme for 46 yrs and wasn't dxd until 4 1/2 yrs ago. I was treated with orals only and have been off abx since November.
I had lyme, babs and bartonella since 1991. treated for 2 ands 1/2 years with orals only....plus acupuncture , and herbs, and cranialsacral work...
I feel i'm about 95% better now...it can be done...6 months isn't that long ...
hang in there..it will get better. find a good lllmd and make sure to treat the coinfections...stiff neck, sounds like babs to me????

Hi, just seconding the "co-infections" theory. I sat around like a dope for four years on the wrong abx treatments, including seven months on IV rocephin which were useless while I had babesia. With the addition of babesia treatment, and now bartonella treatment, as well as the use of ketek in place of macrolides, the whole thing is changing overnight.
Also, I am finding that LLMDs, from the best to the worst, get battle fatigue with patients after about six months. If I had to do this experience over, I would not have bothered with IV (although it may be right for you) and would have immediately done the strongest possible abx combinations.
