I'm still pretty new here...
We have just tested my 3-year-old daughter and are currently waiting on results through dr. j in CT.

Based on symptoms and my insistence, my daughter's ped has agreed to start abx. Dr j's office recommended:
200 mg amox 2x/day
200 mg zithro 1x/day

The ped wrote script for 30 days for both, but he wrote zithro so that she would take it every day for 7 days, take none for 7 days, and then take it again every day for 14 days.

I understand zithro stays in your system for double the days you take it (or something like that). But j's office says they prescribe everyday so as to avoid making disease even stronger by going off zithro for those 7 days.

How do all of you zithro takers do this? I don't want to screw her up.

Also, what other advice would you offer re diet, etc. now that we have her on abx program? (we also think she has babs).

Thank you!

you should call dr. Jones office..he would want her on it continually , nonstop i'm sure. both my kids were on zithro also. my son was 7 when he started it and he was on zithro 300mg twice a day along with whatever other med he was on at the time..but did not take any breaks..

please call dr. jones office and follow through with this. stopping in between could make her lyme worse...he would best be the one to tell you how to take it , adn whether or not to take it daily...

I myself take Zyth and so do my 2 children. We do not take any breaks. I agreee to call dr. J's office and let him know. He is the best one to tell you. good luck.

oh and one more suggestion, make sure she gets pro-biotics. Good multi-strain and take it away from abx by 2 hours.
