what do you do when your appetite tanks, but your stomach is growling?

Hi Achey - I am sorry you are dealing with this...I go through this as well still with treatment although it is a lot better than when I was sick and untreated. Anyway, I tend to eat homemade soups that I make or soups that come in a box like Imagine soups that I know aren't laden with a bunch of chemicals... I find it satiates me a bit and I get some nutritious food into my stomach...I hope your appetite comes back real soon Posted by dullchime (Member # 6024) on :
I got to a point where my fiance had to tell me to eat. I really didnt think of it since I was so preoccupied with my ailing body and when everyone around me was "hey I'm so hungry" i was like "what?" I truly had to force myself to eat to get some nutrition. Soup seems like a great way to take care of the problem.
Hang in there.. It will get better

I know it is tough when you just don't feel like eating...it is so strange for me because I had never lost my appetite other than the occassional flu bug...so weird to just not be hungry...I have been thinking about getting a really good juicer too and starting to juice veggies...they are super expensive so I have been just buying veggie juice from the healthfood store...I never liked tomato juice very much but lately I have been craving it.

hi achey
I was just wondering if you are losing your appetite because you are feeling too sick to eat or even too sick to prepare your own food?
For about the first 4-5 months of abx treatment, I basically couldn't eat for both those reasons...and I lost 30 lbs..
I am finally starting to feel better and I now have a huge appetitite..I have gained back 9 lbs in just a month..
Your goal is to take in some calories and hopefully healthy ones..soups, juices..i ate peanut butter and jelly, eggs...but most days it was a struggle just to eat..
I know that this will get better for you..please hang in there!!!

thanks 2bostons:
I get into cognitive fogs where I notice that I'm hungry, but can't turn the notice into action...eating, and /or food prep.
Sometimes I can't remember what tastes good, or what good food choices are, so I won't eat. Other times I'll so what I just did..eat tapioka pudding from the frig and get a rotten headache from the sugar. (fortunately only do this every couple of weeks)
Sometimes I get overwelmed by all the eating rule..don't eat sugar, carbs, don't take calcuim food with DHEA, take this suppliment or med with this food, but not that food, etc And then I don't eat. My lyme brain gets upset, and instead of doing it wrong, I just don't eat.
Trying for 3 small meals and 3 snacks each day, or eating something every couple of hrs. Some weeks this is good, then confusion sets in again.
I'm tired of working so hard to follow and remember all the "rules".
Start 2 new meds tomorrow. Been anxious abt it. New schedule new rules...
