I was looking over the results of my lumbar puncture from a year ago - the only thing that is questionable as far as I could tell was a note at the bottom of the page "rare lymphocytes" noted. Does anyone know what this means?

Maybe I don't understand what a lymphocyte is. Is it good to have very few??

Hi Kare, Lymphocytes are white blood cells and initiate the immune response. They are produced by the lymph nodes, spleen, thymus and bone marrow. They subgroup into T, B and Null Lymphocytes.
The very few (rare) lymphocytes in your spinal fluid is problably from the technique of the tap itself. It is not uncommon to get a few blood cells (red or white) when doing the tap. Grace
