Anyone have any thoughts on whose craving the sugar? Me? The candida? or the bacteria?
Just walk away from it. During early treatment, I recall I too had to post for the same thing to have someone talk me off that dangerous ledge of giving in to sugar cravings.
Have some almonds or some protein.
And think about some yeast treatment. Diflucan, Oil of Oregano.
Is your tongue white yet??

If you will be very strict for about 3 wks, your cravings will get under control. And you know what, I may be off to the health food store tomorrow for some L-glutamine.
I used to take that all the time, and quit taking it in November or Dec.....I've had trouble ever since, though I blamed it on Thanksgiving and Christmas!
So....let's go get some of that stuff. I know it's good for the gut!

Except for the fact that I want to be well and sugar won't help me get well.
I have been on an extremely strict candida cleanse diet the past month. The cravings have gone away, but I do miss treats, there is also a phsycological component or comforting factor.
So, here are a couple of totally candida safe treat ideas:
- Mix almond butter with some carob powder, alittle spirulena if you have it. Put in Carob until it is stiff enough to handle, but not falling aprt. Roll into gobs and roll in unsweetened coconut.
- For hot chocotate: You can buy unsweetened soymilk (must say unsweetened, and check the ingrediants !), then add cocoa powder, and Stevia to make it sweet. After a month of no sweetss or fruit etc... this was comforting to me. It worked pretter well.
- Today, I tried baking with no wheat or sugar. And, well, they may not have realy been brownies, but after no flour or baked goods for a month, it's good for me. I put quinoa in the vitamix to make a nonwheat flour, it didn't grind as fine as it could have. The healthfood store sells quinoa or brown rice four, we'll try that next time. I used a 1/4t of white stevia extract powder for sweetness. I think there are books or recipes out there to cook with stevia. Stevia does not feed yeast,
Please look to your diet to keep back the yeast. If you are catching it soon enough, you don't need to be as strict as I am probably, You could maybe use whole wheat pastry flour to bake with. But, cut out SUGAR of all types, white flour products of all types, white rice, possibly most or all fruit... You need to research how far you need to go
The raspberry cockie is sweeten with natural raspberry flavor, applesauce and sesame seeds.
there are other flavors too.
This cookie is also gluten free, w/ 3 gm of protien, and only 8 gms of carbs.
Check your natural foods stores!
They are really yummy and one cuts the craving for me with a cup of green chai with half and half.
mountainmomma....the almond butter and carob sounds good!
Beware of sugar alcohols too. They end up being my downfall too often.

I must say I felt HORRIBLE> I woke up feeling like I had the flu very dizzy and hot.
So I broke down and ate a little oatmeal.
I think its a healing crisis and my body going into ketosis cause my breath smelled.
I use Splenda....as little as possible. I actually think saccharin is safer than Splenda, but that's just me.
I really can't stand Stevia. I've tried many times to adjust to it, to no avail.

The cookies have no sugar, except that which is naturally occurring from the applesauce, and raspberry flavor.
Yes, I'm pretty sure 8 mg of total carb per cookie.
I'm dripping right now, so can't check. I'l try to verify tomorrow and correct if need be.

NEED BEE NEED BEE!!!!
I blew it, and got so excited, too!
Darn!
The first ingrediant. which I didn't see in 10 readings is EVAPORATED CANE JUICE!
Darn, that one cookie tasted so good.
Sorry guys, can't I come back begging for forgiveness and blame it on LD?

it didnt last two days..
Normally I dont even like candy..
Im more of a salt type of person
Not anymore....
Also I would get an upset stomach everytime I took the doxy on an empty stomach or with crackers, so my dr. told me to just take it with a meal, and that has helped tremendously. God Bless, Carol
Believe3....the sugar-free candy with the sugar alcohols CAN feed the yeast! Sorry! It's my weakness too!

Thanks for the feedback - of course I don't feel so odd about this now. It seems as though it is not another psychological need, but a very real phsysiological response that is occurring.
I'm also on doxy. I wonder if there is any connection with this because before the doxy I didn't have an appetite, and now I could eat all carbs and surgars in site. I actually watch the food channel for some sick twisted way of satisfying these cravings.
