my son was on malerone treatment plus zithromax for babesia and lyme for 2 months as well as anti-panic and depression meds and is off of everthing now because the panic and psychosis became so severe. has anyone else had this result from malerone? aftere 2 years of treeatment for lyme and co-infections he never had these panic attacks until now. help

No, I haven't. But I would suspect a herx reaction before I'd blame the malerone. In other words, the malerone is bringing the panic attacks to the forefront. Mepron/zith or clindamycin/quinine could have done the same thing.

I am not a doctor!

How old is your son?

Does he see a LLMD? What does the LLMD say? Can he go on another med? Why hasn't he? Can he go on IV?

If not, bring him to a LLMD.

Based on my own experince mepron can certainly mess with the brain. After I started (second round) on mepron in october I have been having panic attacks and emotional meltdowns.

One big panic attack I had was before surgery to have my mediport removed. The result was that I ended up refusing surgery, and am now stuck with the mediport.

I am still on mepron, but am mentally much better -- but still have the mediport. It seems that over time my brain has adjusted to the mepron "paint fumes."

Post your email, son was just in ER for panic attack (he doesn't have lyme...other problems drove his Mg level down). We figured out a way...
