Hey everyone,
I just wanted to know if you guys had any information on Medicaid coverage with lyme disease.

Is Medicaid similar to a regular health insurance?

Does it have good coverage?

Does it cover IV treatment?

Any infor on Medicaid or SSI benefits would be great. Thanks so much for taking the time to read.

No and yes. Medicaid isn't something you can just purchase. You have to qualify to receive it, as it comes from the government. YOu must meet income and resource standards. If you don't, you don't get it.

Does it have good coverage?

Yep. I didn't pay a thing for ANYTHIGN when I had it, period. Well, besides my LLMD and igenex. You don't have copayments on anything *in some states*. Its also state variant, so no one can really answer that.

Does it cover IV treatment?

Like all insurances, good or bad; It can. It might not.

Any infor on Medicaid or SSI benefits would be great. Thanks so much for taking the time to read.

Blue,

do you mean Medicare? MediCARE is the insurance associated with SS/SSDI. MediCAID is state-based insurance and the requirements vary from state to state.

If you do indeed mean Medicaid, then type that into google along with your state name and it should take you to your state's website.

As for medicare, check out: http://www.medicare.gov

As for IV stuff with Medicare, its covered IN the hospital, given as an outpatient at your doctor's office, at the hospital or in a clinic, and as for at home, everything BUT the drug is covered.

I'm in the process of seeing how much of it I can get covered being at home as I am too weak to go out adn the med is 3X a day anyway, and Medicare won't put you in the hospital for 8 weeks, so....

As for additional info on SS & Lyme, do a search here. There is always a lot of discussion about it as well as disability issues.
