I'm new to all this stuff about lyme disease and I'm lost in the lingo.

Very often a lyme patient will experience a worsening of symptoms [herx], once they start an abx regimen.
Symptoms may intensify, or even new symptoms may appear. Definitely, something you want to discuss with your LLMD, if they become intolerable or severe.
Duration can be short, to very extended time frames, and flare in severeity over this time frame. Everyone's make-up is different, so herx's can vary from person to person.
