I noticed a huge improvement in these sensitivities after about a year on antibiotics. Some people thought that was odd because of the thinking that antibiotics cause yeast infection and yeast infection can cause these sensitivities. One naturopath told me that killing the spirochetes must have taken a load off my body and thereby reducing my symptoms. He also said that to improve the food sensitivities that the antibiotics must have killed off whatever bacteria was in my stomach which was perhaps causing a leaky gut.
I have a friend who has a CFS/MCS website. He can be reached at [email protected] He did mention that when he was temporarily on antibiotics for other problems his MCS did seem to get better. I was hoping maybe we could put together some experiences to share with him and to perhaps put on his website.
I just did a poll on MCS after you, I did not SEE this one. Too bad.
I have MCS, and can say that antibiotics did help, but when my candida got out of hand, the MCS was really bad.
Have you been treated for Babesia? or just lyme. Wondering why your MCS improved so much when mine did not.
Also, I have had lyme for about 16 years, and only started treating it with antibiotics one year ago.
I developed MCS about 8 years after I had lyme.
thanks,
Trish
It does seem to have gotten worse in recent years, though.
Only very mild MCS, but major food allergy/sensitivities...although making progress...I'm starting to eat again, although it's still a struggle.
Was so severe I ended up in IV nutrients for a year because I literally could not eat ANYTHING...if even a drop of oil touched my lip, or I swallowed a single pea, I would pass out...Was even allergic to the IV nutrients, so only had 500 calories in it a day spread out over 24 hrs...to help me tolerate it without passing out...
I developed these sensitivities after quite a bit of abx followed with Rife(which gave me major die off)...although Bartonella was not treated really, as every attempt seemed I was too "sensitive" to the meds, and/or the die off...so I suspect that pathogen is partially involved in my case at least to my sensitivity issues...
but I personally think it has to do a lot with toxins too...(of all sorts, the pathogen toxins along with whatever toxins we built up previously in our life before Lyme...)Everyone has a certain threshold of how much their body can store...and process at any one time. Maybe some people are just poor metabilizers or have sluggish detox pathways. Even before lyme, I avoided meds(OTC or Rx), because I got every known possible side effect...just never tolerated medications well...although did fine with most abx!! (till I crashed my system)
Not sure how much of a response you will get to this poll, because I know of many people now with MCS, and/or severe food sensitivities from this disease...and they just no longer come on to lymenet much because they don't relate to everyone anymore, as they can't do abx like everyone else, or even "natural/alternative" methods for fighting Lyme...
All my lyme treatments have had to be put on hold...working on detoxing(which has to be done ever so gently or I backslide and can no longer eat again) and balancing myself nutritionally.

I hadn't gone to a grocery store in 6 years; recently started going 1 month ago regularly. Stay away from smoke on clothing, perfumes, after shave, "cleaning" products. But I am tolerating it well now.

Personally, I believe if you have LONG term lyme, all the detoxing in the world wont help you that much.
Yes, I believe for some it may help a little, but lyme will keep making you toxic until you kill it.
I have had lyme for about 16 years, started first time treatment one year ago or so.
I have found now that my tolerance for supps is SO much better. All vitamins and supps go through the liver, and because I was so toxic from lyme, my liver was not working well, could not process the supps and herbs. Even had a body that was so toxic from lyme, candida was able to take me over. I killed candida for years, no wonder I never got rid of it.
I had endless candida die-off all these years because lyme was making me so toxic,
Now treating candida is SO much easier.
I believe that SOME who have severe MCS, and do antibiotics have to sometimes start off with a tiny dosage like I did.
I started off with 60mgs of the biaxin a day and worked up. Anymore and the herxing would have killed me.
I believe that some with MCS do not give antibiotics a fair chance, because what is a herx, they think is an allergic reaction.
It is imperative in my eyes that those that were like me, the MCS, work with a ND or someone to test the drugs on them, and this way what they think is an allergic reaction, is many times a herx.
YES,, sometimes it could be an allergy,
that is why it is best to work with a ND
to get the testing done, I used Vega testing.
I was there, I had SEVERE allergic herxing one year ago that sent me almost to a mental breakdown from the stress of herxing.
I got through it, but only I believe because of having the drugs tested on me by the ND with the Vega machine.
I would have given up and not take the antibiotics had I not had them tested, and had peace of mind that they were fine for me. Had I not take those antibitoics, I would be dead.
I now detox every so often, but I believe that the body was designed to detox on its on, with a littel help sometimes. Good diet and lots of vegies and some fruits, help detox.

How long do you think you had lyme before you got the MCS? Not allergies, but the MCS.
I have had lyme about 16 years, and MCS started about 8 years after I had lyme.
I remember jogging one day, and realizing how sick I was from jogging. I had decided to take the sky train shopping, then jog home. I usually did this sometimes, and was fine. This time I was so sick... and thought something was up.
Years later I realized this to be from being so toxic with lyme, body could not detox... it was about one year later full blown MCS started.
Trish
I'm now on year 2 and a half, so that means I've been dramatically better with respect to chem sensitivity for a year and a half.
Thanks for reminding me of this fact.
Suffering a particularly difficult to take flare up of babesia symptoms and its good to remember things that HAVE improved.
