Hi Everyone

Where do I start. I'm a 20 year old student/part-time landscaper living in maryland. In december I started out with some chest pain, which was found out to be a mild heart attack that was cause from heart spasm. This was a real shocker to me and my family. Around a month ago I went to a follow up with my cardiologist to have an echo done which showed 100 percent improvement of my heart. I was of course happy, but still left unsatisfied with why these random events would happen to me at 20. Around two weeks ago I started to feel an almost twitchy/tingle in my legs, which has grown into a weak/diziness throughout my entire body. I went to my gp and asked for bloodwork to be done and have recieved preliminary results that suggest lyme's. I've never had it before, and am still waiting for more extensive testing. Since I've had such symptoms my gp has started me on the doxycycline 100 mg. I must admit its been exhaustive and the worst 3 month of my life. Could the heart attack be related to the lyme's????

Matt,

Here are some links to get you started.

Also, you should post in the "seeing a doctor" section or check out the Support Group area to find an LLMD (Lyme Literate) in your area.

Others will be along that can give you more answers to your questions.

Also, please use spaces between paragraphs, it's hard for some lymies to read blocks of text.

Good luck

Hey Matt,
Yes, the hear problem can definately be related to lyme. Lyme can cause all kinds of problems. Sounds like you are finidng this out.

Your other symptoms also sound like classic lyme. You need to find an LLMD. Please post in "seeking a doctor".

Your current doc, unless she/he is experienced in treating lyme, probably wil use a cookbook approach to treat you.

Be aware of that type of approach as it is usually just a few weeks. at best a month, of antibiotics. THIS IS NOT SUFFICIENT IN MOST?MANY CASES.

You are with in reach of several good LLMD's.

Others in your area can hook you up if you post on "seeing a doctor".

PLease take the time and money to get proper diagnosis and treatment. The sooner the better. You don't have time to waste.
Not trying to scare you just to get you in action.

Take Care,
robi

Hi Matt,

I am also from Maryland, and have Lyme disease myself. I spent a lot of time outdoors over the years, so it's no surprise that I was infected; and as a landscaper in the area you would have been at great risk yourself. Somehow my dad has managed to run his landscaping business for 30 years without getting infected, so I guess he got damn lucky.

I have a level 4 heart murmur, and other cardiac manifestations from lyme disease. It's really very common. In addition, my nervous system has been impacted in many ways, and my neurolological symptoms are the worst.

Please stick with lymenet while you work through this. Feel free to email me as well. I'll follow your story on here if you keep us posted.

Best wishes,
Sara

I am so sorry to hear about your troubles, Matt.

I think it is very possible your heart problems were caused by Lyme Disease. In fact (and I add the disclaimer that I am not a doctor and this is just my opinion) you may not have had a "typical" heart attack if the improvement in your heart was 100%.

I'm sure you know that 100mg of doxy is not enough to take care of your infection. Please take the advice and find someone in your area who will treat you aggressively and competently.

Believe me, I have wasted too many years fighting this disease and it's still winning. Well, the gloves are off!!

Take yours off too and good luck.

Yes absolutly heartblock caused by lyme also the viscosity of the blood can be affected blood doesnt move around as well extra strain on heart.
Also nerve damage caused by spirochetes can cause intermitent signals to your heart.

WELCOME To LYMENET

Here's more goodys! A typical response to newcomers.

Hi and WELCOME! Get a LLMD or at least Dr that is willing to learn about lyme. Borrelia Burgdorferi is a clinical diagnosis, based on symptoms and on your response to treatment. Good Luck, bumpy road ahead.

Post for a LLMD in Seeking a Doctor. Ps remember I am not a Dr, just a fellow sufferer.
