I have really bad stiffness mostly in my legs but some in the rest of my body. I've had this for about 2 years and it's preventing me from walking because I can't keep my balance. I started going to therapy and they even remarked about how stiff my muscles are and have been trying to stretch them out but with no results.
Does anybody have this problem? If so do you have an answer for this?

Flexeril at bedtime helped me. Plus mild stretching during daytime.

I second the Flexeril. I had constant tightness and pain in my shoulders before I started Flexeril.

Once you start the Flexeril, you may have better luck with the therapy. I worked with a great physical therapist who was ready to give up on me, until the Flexeril. It relaxed my muscles enough to let the therapy actually take hold.

The therapist I worked with specialized in myofascial trigger point release. This is a method of using pressure to release the tight knots in the muscles. Besides stretching, this type of therapy or massage may be necessary as well.

You don't mention if you are being treated for LD or co-infections. I'm assuming that the stiffness is as a result.

I often joke that it's as if my whole body is on Viagra, that's how stiff I am.

I have also had KMI therapy. That stands for Kinesis Myofascial Integration (sp?). It definitely helped my stiffness, but was not enough on its own. I think it should be part of the treatment.

You asked if the stiffnes is due to the lyme...and the person on this board would'nt be answering your questions unles they had lyme...
The stiffness and the flexeril is a common symptom and prescription for the muscle tightness and pain of lyme disease...I've been on it and I guess others out there have also used it or some type of muscle relaxer.
I use a hot tub whenever I can so I don't have to keep taking drugs...external hyperthermia...I think helps other symptoms as well.
It's just one of many things we try to feel better while we wait for a cure.
good luck and God bless..........zman

Stiffness is one of my biggest problems at this point. Legs, back and rib cage. PT and correct abx therapy has helped.

I think we are all interested here in helping each other.

Don't know why you found it necessary to jump on me, zman.

Actually I asked if they were being treated for Lyme or co-infections.

A lot of people on line here have the disease, but are not getting treatment for whatever reason.

Yes, I am being treated for lyme. I've been on antibiotics for about 3 years. I want to thank everyone who responded, I'm going to ask my doctor about the flexeril. Thanks again!!
