Vioxx worked wonders for the inflammation and pain in my legs, feet and arms, and the pain is back in full force since I went off it. It looks like I am retaining fluid there.
This dr. doesn't know I have Lyme, it would have been counter-productive to tell him. I didn't need him telling me all my symptoms were caused by Lyme when I was asking for something to replace the Vioxx. I also didn't tell him I am on Ketek, and will have to research if there is any interaction with the Mobic if I choose to take it.
What a tangled web we weave out of necessity.
Is there another anti-inflammatory that anyone is using instead of Vioxx that works ok with Ketek? Thanks a bunch.
BTW....Happy Birthday!

Serrapeptase: Silkworm Enzyme, reduces inflammation http://flash.lymenet.org/ubb/Forum1/HTML/032159.html
Apparently, Europeans have been using this for arthritis for a while.
I just got my order of serrapeptase yesterday, so today is my first full day on it. But I presently have the cold from hell, and it's difficult to tell if it's doing anything good yet.
Here's some information about using serrapeptase with antibiotics.
----------
Something to keep in mind whenever using antibiotics is that they may be more effective when taken with bromelain or other fibrinolytic enzymes. In humans, some undetermined activity of bromelain has been documented to increase blood and urine levels of antibiotics.
Serrapeptase teamed with antibiotics delivers increased concentrations of the antimicrobial agent to the site of the infection. Bacteria often endure a process called biofilm formation, which results in resistance to antimicrobial agents.
In an attempt to prevent this bacterial immunity, researchers have experimented with various means of inhibiting biofilm-embedded bacteria. One study conducted by Italian researchers suggests that proteolytic enzymes could significantly enhance the activities of antibiotics against biofilms.
Antibiotic susceptibility tests showed that serratiopeptidase greatly enhances the activity of the antibiotic, ofloxacin, and that it can inhibit biofilm formation. [Antimicrob Agents Chemother. 1993; 37(12): pp.2618-21]

I hope this helps.

Hope this helps,

That's exactly why heparin is so effective while taking antibiotics. Of course, natural is better....so as soon as my supply of heparin runs out, I'm switching to lumbrokinase.......or maybe serrapeptase??

Click on "to order."
Robi,
I think the product you are using is similar to serrapeptase.
It also sounds similar to the Wobezym that Gigi was talking about.
Take care,
Carol

Gigi no longer recommends the Wobenzyme.

Tutu,
I think the dosage varies by need. This brand that I bought has 10,000 units per tablet, although I did see others that had 20,000 or 30,000 units per tablet.
I bought a dozen bottles, so that should last me for a couple months, lol.
Unless I give some to my mom....
Also, you said, "Gigi no longer recommends the Wobenzyme."
Do you know why? Was there a problem with it, or did she find something better?
Take care,
Carol
OTC Guaifenisin (Mucinex) helps with my muscle aches. Keeps my lungs clear, too.

Carol,
GIGI said Dr K no longer recommends it. I think there was a problem, but I'm not sure what.
robi,
Is the only Vitalzym the one for $159? Don't they have smaller bottles?
I may just try the serrapeptase. Way cheaper.

But, this is an absolutely perfect day here in Florida, not a cloud in the sky and almost 80 degrees already. God is good.
I thought it was so interesting that both Carol and Robi are recommending such similar products, it can't be coincidence. I think it's worth looking into.
I have the Mobic samples here and have been staring at them. I read the precautions, and at least had a good laugh. Apparently, if they don't kill you from a host of side effects, you could have less pain.
Lymetoo, I have also been considering the Xango, have been reading all the posts for weeks. It's just that it's so expensive, and seems to take a while to work. Question: does one need to take it forever to help with the inflammation or does it actually do healing?
You people here are wonderful, hope this is a blessed day for all.

YEA about the flowers! Hope you had a wonderful day!
Is a dollar a day worth it if your pain is GONE? Is $2 a day worth it if your pain is GONE?
I consider it priceless because it's given me my life back! You can't beat that with a stick!
It works rather quickly for pain relief, but I will admit that Lymies are tough nuts to crack! It took 2 bottles for me to be convinced something was happening.
I was only taking the $1 a day "remedy"...had I upped it sooner, my results would have been quicker.
Let me show you how to get it free. It's not that hard.

So I believe it will eventually get me well. I've been able to go off abx for the first time in 4 1/2 yrs. I think that says alot.
Lyme sets up inflammation in our bodies, and until all the keets are gone, the inflammation will be there. It actually feels as though the inflammation in my brain is gone!
That's not something you can measure, but my brain is working tremendously better! And no depression is pretty awesome in itself!
I have many people who have been able to get off some of their meds, and THAT will SAVE you money! I've gotten rid of at least 3 meds, not counting abx. Yea!
