I'm trying to find out (caveat, see further below):

1) how many of you had a positive or negative Babs test,
2) from which lab,
3) what meds are you taking and for how long,
4) have the meds helped on your symptoms.

Caveat:
I'm looking to hear from those people who believe they have what Burrascano calls a "mild" persistent Babs infection with symptoms such as:

- below normal temperature.
- dizzyness/imbalance,
- mild enchapholoptahy,
- heart palpitations,
- headaches,
- fatique,
- sweats,
- air hunger,
- caughing,

I have most of the above symptoms (except air hunger and sweats).

I wanna exclude those with "typical" Babs symptoms such as night sweats, above normal temperature.

My theory is that those with the mild Babs infection are also those who have the least amount of protozoas floating around in their veines but rather the protozoas tend to concentrate in the brain section.

I just had a positive babs test from MDL.

I don't have all of the symptoms, but I do have extreme chronic dizziness, disorientation, derealization, severe vision disturbances, mild nightsweats, and others.

I am not being treated for babs because I'm pregnant. I have never been treated.

Virtually all of my symptoms are neurological. Of course, it's difficult to differentiate between what is caused by lyme and what is caused by babesia, but I believe that the babesia is what is making me so sick.

1. I had a positive test from Igenex, however was the lowest number to be considered positive. I have been on Mepron/Zith for 11 months. THe meds have definitely helped my symptoms. I still have mild night sweats, brain fog, worse in the mornings, muscle pain, and spontaneous bruising. I would say that I am 80% better than when I began treatment, but cannot seem to completely kick babs.

Is this from the meds or from Babs?

Cause I get blue-green bruise too, which look a bit like a charlie-horse, but without the yellow part.

The bruises can be anywhere from round and 1/2" in diameter to rectangular (1/2" wide and 1-2" long).

bruising is common with babesia...so is deep muscle pain, and pain around your ribs...

I believe my bruising is from babs. When I went off of mepron/zith for a couple of months, I had an increase in bruising, and also have an increase in bruising when I herx.

There is some good news about Babesia. It is such a close cousin of Malaria and the initial symptoms are Malaria-like. Malaria burns itself out in around 10 years (it did for me) and I believe Babesia does likewise. The tests for Babesia may still be positive but the pathogens do not cause symptoms. Any further symptoms are more likely due to other TBDs, mainly Borrelia. Ted

I've heard that you can get bruising from Minocycline. Though I asked my LLMD this very question yesterday, and he said no.

What I mean with "below normal temp" is a temperature less than 98.6F. For example, my temp varies in the 94-97 range throughout the day.

Many people say this is due to Lyme. Some people say this is due to Babs. Some people say this is due to thyroid. And there are other theories.

See my other post http://flash.lymenet.org/ubb/Forum1/HTML/032456.html

I had all of the symptoms described...not sure if it has come back...getting air hunger lately but it could be herx,

Below normal temp can be a growth hormone/ pituitary issue as I have this.

I did have bruising from the Babs but that has long gone. Don't know about it burning out after 10 years...my Babesia flared 14 yrs after being bitten!

P.S. I had microscopy done on dried blood slides by a European vet which showed the Babs forms, I had every symptom by then apart from the blood in urine.

My grandson was very, very anemic with babs. He was on medication for almost 4 years, mephron and Zith. He was bitten in MA working on he Eagle Scout badge which he did get finally. Was very ill.

Lots of Neuro symptoms come from HME and HGE. Of course lyme too.

This is the Pfizer pamphlet that shows the coinfections that Bowen shows you.
