does anyone get heavy periods with lyme?

Yes...this was actually the first symptom I got after years of neurological stuff, back pain, and hip pain.
Everything was pretty bareable until last May when everything seemed to cascade and suddenly new symptoms popped up everyday.
When I entered this new chapter the first thing that ushered it in was these heavy periods where my periods had seemed to shorten and become very light.
Then all of the sudden they were extremely heavy and they lasted almost six days.

Whether it was lyme related or not, I don't know...but my periods got very heavy, and I got VERY anemic. I ended up with a uterine ablation to slow the flow. The doctor could find no fibroid or polyp to cause my heavy bleeding.
Please get your ferritin checked, as well as your hematocrit and hemoglobin. A ferritin less than 50 ng/mL indicates you are iron deficient; so check with your doctor about adding iron supplements.

One quirk I noticed was that my periods were much heavier when I was on certain antibiotics. In particular I remember this being a problem when I was on Biaxin for many months in a row.
Now I'm on birth control (nuvaring), which makes the flow lighter, so I can't really say if the Lyme or antibiotics influence it.

Strangely enough-
my first period after first treatment of Doxy was outrageously painful-
made me throw up etc- but since then- they have been almost painless in comparison to pre lyme-
I try to count my blessings and look at this as one thing lyme has made easier for now at least-
that and a absolute resolve to never take my health for granted once I recover!
Sorry to hear that yours haven't been as easy-

I am so glad to have read posts on this so recently, because mine became alarmingly heavy and full of clots. They have finally subsided a bit, which I think coincides with my reducing abx. I noticed too, though, that they are regualr for the first time ever in my life!
