after a couple of months of feeling like ****e, acquiring flab and feeling blue-
I have slowly been returning to the gym
today, while in a stretch my poor legs went into shakes- I looked around and no one else was shaking so probably the Lyme
after a quiet tear or two- I resolved to up my magnesium-
should I be working out-? currently an hour of stretch or yoga, 30 minutes low intensity cardio and a few light weights
I have been taking mag as a tissue salt- and occasionally magnesium oronate (sp?)
anything else I can do?
thanks all-
Also, stay hydrated. Drink lost of water before you workout, and give it time to be asborbed by your system.
I also have myoclonus, which is involuntary movement. I find that after yoga or other relaxing exercise, I have little jerks and twitches all over my body. I am assuming it has to do with activating nerves and muscles and getting blood flow going.
however, i have not had good luck lifting weights. Having been a personal trainer, I may have overdone things - but even when i went lighter, my muscles cramp and spasm after working out with weights.
I think the lyme causes inflammation in the muscle and working out with weights makes it worse.
Cardio is a good idea though, since you are heating up your body - and the keets don't like that.
HOWEVER - i'll also add to listen to your body. I never exercise when i have a fever, etc. i did a lousy job of this at teh beginning and it compromised my treatment.
Good luck
I couldn't do any weight work until I started Flexeril. I was in constant pain from the tightness in my shoulders and neck, so I really needed the pain relief from Flexeril.
My muscles had the same reaction though. My PT was amazed at how my muscles would react. He could see them inflame in front of him.
I will go easy on myself at the gym-
a bit of a shock as I used to be so strong- but I have faith it will return
I have started with the steam saunas and lo and behold....I had my very first RASH! must be a herx and I'm thrilled-little red bumps on chest, trunk, legs and I'm not one to get heat rash!
So if you can folks- get to the gym and steam them out!
I of course refrained from bragging about my rash to the ladies in the steam room- though I was so happy I wanted to tell the world!
have a great Friday night Lyme friends-
Sarah
