Doc mentioned me starting Doxy and adding something else later..is this a good thing? BTW, I have been sick for 9 years w/CFS/FM..wouldn't my IGG be positive and not my IGM..I thought IGM meant acute..??

Hi Suz, Welcome to lymenet!

I just typed out a message and lost it. Drat. But here is a great page for you to read. Especially the second article written by a pediatric LLMD Dr. Jones. It is how to interpret the western blot. Read it twice if you have to. Looks like you have lyme disease. Keep in touch!

p.s. editing here to say that CFS/FM is a common misdiagnosis for many of us lyme patients. That was what I was told I had 12 years ago.

And, in lyme disease, a positive IGM can mean a recent exposure, but also means ongoing infection. Our bodies keep producing IGM antibodies as long as we have an active infection.

This is not true of other illnesses that are tested using IGG/IGM. Lots of non-lyme literate doctors aren't knowledgeable about this. You have to go by your symptoms to determine how long you've been sick with lyme, not the western blot. I am not a doc or anything, but you are postive according to your IGeneX.

Thanks everyone for the info. I am a little overwhelmed right now. I still dont understand how my IGG can be negative. I thought w/IGM being positive (it;s a chronic infection I have and now I know IGM can be pos in chronic infection too)..I would figure IGG would have to be pos...so confusing. Thanks again everyone.
