Hello Everyone!

Sorry if this question has been asked before, but I the search button still isn't working...

I went for a very long period of time without having any dreams (or memorable dreams) and after starting treatment with abx I've had the most vivid dreams every night. Just wondering if anyone else has noticed this or could it be just from taking an anti-anxiety medication?

Also, I've been having terrible night sweats recently-not so much my forehead, but my whole body is drenched a couple of times each night. I've noticed that it's worse when I'm PMSing-is this fairly common? I feel shaky, tired and weak all day long and I'm getting a little worried...

Any feedback would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks!

Hi KLS, the last two nights i have dreamed my husband is leaving me. That sure does make the morning hello to each other a bit strained. Yep, i dream a lot now, and go to bed cold and wake up hot and sweaty and need to go get water to drink.
A little secret someone told me for night sweats.
1 part rubbing alcohol
1 part water
a few drops of rose water or your favorite calming scent.
Mix in a mister bottle of some sort and keep it by your bed. When you wake up and are hot, mist it on your chest and neck. The alcohol evaoporates fast and cools you off. I personally dont like the smell of roses so i use lavender. Good luck

You may not be getting a true, deep sleep. When we remember our dreams, it is often because we are interrupted in our sleep cycle during, or immediately following, the dream.

It can be because of medications. I had anxiety dreams from Vioxx. Every night I had at least one, the day I stopped taking Vioxx, I stopped having anxiety dreams. So you may want to experiment to determine if it is caused by a med.

Thanks for the tips Anie & Lemonhead!

I'll definitely try the alcohol & water spray and I'm going to be switching over from Effexor XR to something my doc suggested that is fairly new on the market for anxiety and also neurological "pains" that are caused by fibromyalgia (because she still won't treat me for lyme!) It seems that no matter what anti anxiety meds I try, they still don't seem to take away all of my symptoms.

i have this same thing going on. usually i have no dreams, but lately i have had many. they coincide with the days where i have dosed myself heavily on oregano oil, or if i eat things that i have an allergic or bad response to, like sugar. a lot of the dreams were bad and i was pretty miserable. i think its kind of like herx while sleeping, cause i get miserable sometimes too while awake when herxing.
last night i had a really strange dream where i met this girl michelle mitchell. it wasnt bad either, just a little strange.

about the night sweats, this is THE deffinitave symptom of babesia. babesia is similar to mylaria which you also get sweats with as well. good docotors will ask you if you get night sweats to see if you have babesia. i had this problem, and took the specific antibiotics and got better. it actually has been coming back a bit, but it seems to get improving now. drenched a couple of times a night doesnt sound good, you should take care of that.

Hi KLS-

Same thing has been happening to me for a few years now, off and on. Definitely a side effect of anti-anxiety meds and some antibiotics, and even perimenopause, but...I have recently found in lab tests that I have a very high cortisol level, indicating a problem with my adrenal gland, and these are also symptoms of problems with the adrenal gland. Those of us with chronic disease can have a worn out adrenal, causing problems like this. I happen to have an appointment tomorrow with an endocrinologist to find out if there is anything I can do about it. Just thought you might want to look into that possibility, too, since we are all "in the same boat" with Lyme wearing us down! good luck. Lori

KLS,

Please try and find yourself an LLMD. I was treated by a pain specialist who was convinced I had fibromyalgia. The anti-depressants and anti-anxiety didn't do anything but cause side effects.

If your pain isn't fibro pain, I don't think these drugs do help.

Thanks for the feedback!

I did have testing by a LLMD some time ago through MDL and both PCR and bloodwork came up negative for babesia so I assumed that I didn't have it. Just wondering if it's as hard to catch as lyme???

Thanks!

anti-depressants I have read can do some pretty bad things to you during sleep. Crazy realistic, vivid dreams. And oh yeah, NIGHT SWEATS- Thats a pleasant one to hear in the middle of the night when my wife rolls over, ewww, your drenched!

Yeah well first it was the Lyme, now its the anti-depressants. At least I had 4 months in between that was good sleep.

Does anyone know if any of the bands on the lyme test from Igenex give any indication of babesia? I tested + for both IGG and IGM and am not taking any abx at this time...

Thanks!

Night sweats can be from babesia, but they can also be from brucella and bartonella.

When people don't remember their dreams at all, it can be from a lack of B-6. Chronic lyme would deplete your B-6 , and taking abx can stop the buggers from using up your B vitamins

There are multiple strains of babesia, but tests for only a fraction of those strains. So it is definitely possible to have babesia with negative results. It can be a clinical diagnosis based on symptoms.

The Lyme test is completely different from the babesia test.

vivid dreaming is sometimes seen with relapsing fever.
Although babesia can be a difficult diagnosis because there are several subtypes which are not tested for, I believe that lyme disease itself can cause night sweats and in fact this has been reported in the literature. Too little is known about borrelia infection thanks to the obstructionism of the steerites to dogmatically assume that this may be babesia.
LD may cause a derangement of hypothalmic function.
Vivid dreaming can also be seen in sleep apnea syndromes. It has been reported anecdotally by clinicians that there is a high incidence of sleep apnea in LD patients this could be due to tissue destruction, peripheral nerve damage, etc.
