Hi-Last Thursday I went to dr. with palps and had ekg that came back abnormal(showed inflammation)-dr. suggesting lyme. Had lyme test last aug. that came back inconclusive so was not put on anything. At that time I was also having palps, but normal ekg. I don't understand how this can be lyme. What causes these horrible palps. I had them documented on halter monitor as PVCs(last year). They make me want to stay in bed or get rushed to the hospital. Dr. just put me on doxy (300mg) Is this right to do? I am so upset and confused. Please anyone with similar symptoms and answere?

WELCOME To LYMENET

Here's more goodys! A typical response to newcomers.

Hi and WELCOME! Get a LLMD or at least Dr that is willing to learn about lyme. Borrelia Burgdorferi is a clinical diagnosis, based on symptoms and on your response to treatment. Good Luck, bumpy road ahead.

Post for a LLMD in Seeking a Doctor. Ps remember I am not a Dr, just a fellow sufferer.

I had this with my lyme. I had to wear a halter moniter for 24 hours. Lucky for me that this symptom was one of the first to go away when starting treatment of 500mg zithromax. It took about a month. Everyone is different however and it is also depending on how long it has been going on. I also had negative lyme test. I dont put much stock in them.

I have abnormal EKGS too. Plus many heart sympoms. Can you tell me what the EKG said that indicated inflammation? I have several abnormalities and I wonder what they mean, my doc doesn't tell me. Hope things get better soon.

Hi-I just got back from dr. today and she explained my ekg/honestly I couldn't translate it back to you for the life of me but it made since when she was telling me! It has to do with lyme effecting the central nervous system and in return the ekg show the electrical part of my heart being "inflamed".I am going for echo Weds. and hoping that looks okay. I am now on ceftin 500 mg 2x per day and doxy 100mg 3 x per day. Take care. Diane

My EKG has also become abmornal since testing positive for Lyme. I have had a stress test and echo with doppler flow.

Each test had abnormalities, but everything has been attributed to Lyme. I was hospitalized twice......once during a herx.

It gradually got better with treatment, but I have since relapsed and all symptoms have returned,

Good luck with your tests!

I had horrilbe palpitations for years. My halter monitor showed PVC's and tachycardia. I wasn't aware that an EKG could show inflammation but my cardio CRP was in the 80's (normal under 10) showing inflammation.

Going back 22 years, I remembered that I was hospitalized for suspected endocarditis when a new murmur was discovered, and the echo said I had a damaged valve. Mysteriously, the valve problem later disappeared. The same thing happened to my son 10 years ago. He also has Lyme, apparently.

Anyway, after antibiotics, this is the one symptom that improved dramatically. Even in menopause, no more palpitations.

In the meantime, I found that xanex helped with the panic I got w/the heart stuff. I took tiny amount of it when I had bad symptoms. Beta-blockers caused me too many problems, so there weren't too many med options.

I remember reading a paperback book in bed, and putting it on my chest... Palpiations were so bad that my heart literally moved the book up and down!

Every once in a while I have a "herx" or I change abx and have a slight relpase, but otherwise, this symptom is totally better, I promise!
