I've recently been experiencing heart palpitations and an episode of SVT. I am investigating possible heart problems with a cardiologist, etc., but in the mean time, my Mom and I have started putting 'two and two together.' She has had lyme/been successfully treated. Over the last 10 years I've had incidences of heart palpatations, recurring undiagnosable throat infections, various rashes (all diagnosed as allergy or 'dermatitis'), a few weeks of intense 'itching under the skin' which got worse when exposed to the sun, knee pain, pain in my jaw joint, tingling in my hands and sometimes feet, and floaters in my vision that I've never noticed before especially in the light. all of these things only lasted a short period of time and never seemed like much on their own, but some, like the heart palpatations resurfaced years later. I've also noticed lately a feeling of an adrenaline rush that only lasts a few seconds but happens when i'm merely sitting at my desk. I was tested once for Lyme and it was negative - but it was just a regular blood test ordered by an allergist b/c I asked for it when i was investigating one of the weirdo rashes I get. I've also been tested for thyroid dysfunction numerous times and have obviously had regular blood tests done. all were normal. Like I said, between my Mom's experience and the list of symptoms when I put them all together, it seems like a possibility?? If so, how do I find a good doc in my area/get tested? (My Mom is in a different state and I'd rather find someone closer to home)

Sounds Lymey to me. Ask (insist) your local doc to order a Western Blot (not a Lyme titer or Lyme ELISA-useless test) and get a copy of your results. Come back here and tell us which bands are positive if any. Check out support groups and find one near you. Phone them and they'll help you find a doctor.

I say skip the traditional labs and go with IgeneX Labs. I tested negative twice with conventional labs.

Don't forget to get tested for coinfections. You not only need to know if you have them but treat them appropriately. Typically you want to get those out of the way first then go after the lyme.

Good luck finding your LLMD and I hope you feel better soon.

Thanks for the help and insight!! I'm in Baltimore if anyone knows of an LLMD in the area. I will begin my search and come back when I have test results to share.

I'm new here, and sure am glad I found you all.
I haven't been tested yet, but most of these symptoms I have or have had in the last 20 some years, the newest is a few seconds of double vision at times, and arthritis with tons of muscle weakness especially on the right side. Bell's Palsey I've had on both sides in 95 & 97.
I'm lost, confused, I hurt, , I've been ridiculed, told I'm getting old ((only 53 thank you))and truly miss walking, tae kwon do, and the daily homemaker thing without pain. There's no insurance. so i'm saving up to pay for the test. I the I gen X or waht ever it is lab one of the more reliable ones?? The doc I have now is a great lady, and willing to help me any way she can with the limited knowledge here in Oklahoma.
Thank you for being here

Your symptoms sound classic. ind a "Lyme Literate" doc right away, and get on some hard-core antibiotics.!
The tests are often not conclusive, even for those who have had the ticks with the classic rash around the bite site (the ultimate test)- I'm one of those!
Yeah, you might have positive tests later on if you wait. But then, the lyme will have gotten deep into your system, and probably deep into your brain. You don't want that. Lyme is nastier and nastier the longer it remains untreated.
Meanwhile, it might be good to start grapefruit seed extract and olive leaf extract, 250mg of each twice a day. Not to mention, to start chokomg down mountains of garlic.
And anything else that seems reasonable to try, based on others' reports and on your thinking it through.

Okie lyme - Have you discovered other forums on this website, like general support for instance. Just recently someone posted a notice about a new OK support group, which I am putting here for you. Just click on it.
