About a week ago, my doctor faxed me my test results for Lyme and Babesia. For Babesia I was completely negative, but for Lyme I was tested positive again. For the IGG Western Blot, it came out negative, but for the IGM Western Blot, it came out positive which also means that the Lyme is current, not passive, so now I have to take Mepron with Zithro for another three weeks. He also said that I have candeda, which is pretty serious because it is yeast that is floating in the blood stream and can go directly to the brain. So now I have to take Nystatin three times a day for two weeks. Does anybody know what Candeda can do to the brain, because I've been noticing some problems where I can't concentrate or function and I get constant mood swing. How bad can it affect the brain?

Hi amk it seams like most people who have lymes get candida- It can get out of control real fast. Do what your doc says-- No Carb diet is very important- Its very hard to do- but very important. Try to get Nystatin in powder form-- It works Much better and is worth the hassel to find--Must be kept in fridge or it goes bad. If you are taking nystatin pills - Let them dissolve in your mouth- this will help them work better. As far as bing dinged out-- I think both lymes and candida do it.--Jay--

After completely falling off the no-yeast/no-carb diet, I developed a bad candida/yeast problem. So many of the symptoms were similar to those of Lyme, but I could really sense that there was a difference.
I had headaches, dizziness, brain fog, intestinal problems, enormous facial blemishes and typical female ramifications (!).
I asked him how it affects the brain and central nervous system and I think he said something about a by-product of it all (or something to that effect) that is toxic (perhaps that is too strong a word) that gets into your brain and nervous system.
That is obviously not a very specific answer to your question, but I do think there is some sort of physiological connection.
It can get pretty bad.Take acidophilis also and a lot of it take two hours after taking abx's. From Newbie Links.

I have to control the yeast using two methods, nystatin three times a day and the extract of an herb called coptis. Although the coptis works great, it's also hard to find--but one of the active ingredients, berberine, can also be found--in smaller concentrations--in other herbs such as goldenseal.

Candida can be wicked if not treated with the Nystatin or Diflucan. Several years ago~~ 10-12 I think, I was new at raising our cockatiels, and was buying some from a breeder here in Enid. Never was comfortable with the lack of cleanliness, and after loosing a few babies I finally took them to OSU Vet School. Necropsy was severe candida, and the breeder of these birds needed to be checked by a doctor. He did go to the doctor and had to go through an extreme regiment of nystatin. It's wicked nasty stuff, and needs to nipped ASAP!!
