I have heard some LLMD give 5 days of strong antibiotics mixed with flagyl before ordering the Lyme test from IGenex. Is that a common practice? It makes some sense for Lyme but it is the opposite of other infections; I want to hear the experience from other people. Thanks.

If you need a positive WB for insurance purposes, it's a great idea. Most LLMD's will treat clinically.

You can do the 5 days, or you can treat for 3 wks, then off two weeks, then the test.

Hopefully, others will chime in on this. I'm not sure what other LLMD's are doing these days with regard to testing.

Hello,
I had five days of strong antibiotics prior to the IGenex test (no flagyl). I was CDC positive on both my Western blots as a result.

Previously, I had two negative Western blots and one normal spinal fluid at local labs.

Thank you, IGenex! Your lab rocks!

My wife had that for wb and 3 day urine test it free's up the antigens because abx kills the spirochetes thus body's antibodies detach from the dead spirochetes more of them in your blood and urine then.

I on the otherhand only had it on the 3 day urine but I had this disease a lot longer and more than one strain and coinfection.

I was totally positive apparently my immune system was and still works at a high rate.
My wb and 3 day urine were decorated with +++ everywhere.

Now when I got tested a second time because of reinfection I came up equvical but since I had it for so long and recognised symptoms back on abx's I went and for four months I herxed heavily every 28 to 34 days they would start around 28days say a monday by friday I thought I was dying then 3 days of feeling really really horrible and lots of water I would start feeling better each day.

Anyway the best thing I can tell anyone is keep a journal write everything down all symptoms and always wright the date down and watch the duration of everything.

I tested negative 2 times with Lab Corp in the early stages. Two and 1/2 yrs later after my PCP ordered 6 weeks of IV Rocephin, I finally had an appt with Dr C 2 wks later.

Finally, validation! IGM highly positive. Lyme antibodies galore. I believe the rocephin helped stirred up the pot.

Go to Bowen REsearch lab to get tested. you do not have to go on antibiotics. Have you doctor call 1-727-937-9077 and order the serial dilution test kit. your doctor will get the results within 24 hrs faxed to him which will include babs, HME and HGE. The cost is $250 and you can take this amount off of your taxes. You can put this on your charge.
In about a week, your doctor will get the pictures of what is in your blood. Go to the Pfizer pamphlet at: www.lymediseaseinformation.com to see the coinfections the same way Bowen will show you the pictures. Borrow the pictures from your doctor to copy them.
They gross you out to know what is in your blood. Some have the spiroketes exiting your blood and the L-forms. This lab just had their lyme test patented in January 2005. This was a 3-year process. When the FDA approves it, then it will be the only approved lyme test.
