Has anyone taken Ketek through IV's?

I have been on IV therapy for 7 weeks, but I am not responding to anything so far. I had an allergic reaction to Zithromax, so my LLMD is going to try me on Ketek in a couple of weeks. I was just wondering what someone's experience has been with this medicine.

Thanks for any help!!!!

Ketek is a newly approved (june 2004) drug in the US, but it has been around in Europe for a number of years. According to my doctor, european studies an side effects are encouraging.

Are you sure it will be IV ketek? I have only heard of people on the oral version of this.

I don't know whether it's available in IV form... don't think so, but maybe someone else here knows.

7 weeks is not actually that long. It can take time to see improvement.

I actually made a mistake on this. I thought my RNP was going to give this drug to me through IV's because of the way her email was worded. I just found out today that it is orally. Sorry about the confusion.

When I say I am not responding to medicine, it does not mean that I am already expecting positive results. I knew that would not happen anytime soon. I just meant that I am not responding because I am not experiencing any significant herxing. This means the spirochetes may not be dying off like they should.

I would still like to hear people's experiences with Ketek if there are any.
