Just got a call from my stepdaughter, who is in the ER with a friend. He was diagnosed w/ MS, but I pointed out that he should get a lyme test and sent some info, and he will get the lyme test today.

He landed in the ER because he had a dizzy spell when getting out of bed that was so bad that he felt "pulled" back onto the bed.

Can any lymies relate to that? They'd like to know if it could be a lyme thing.

Thanks!

Sue

SURE! It certainly could be Lyme! LOTS of people have dizziness with Lyme, and specifically vertigo.

I just started back on doxy and it has made me dizzy. I would say this is a herx reaction, not a med reaction.

Tell them to ask for a Lyme Western Blot. The ELISA is pretty worthless. Of course, the ideal situation would be to have Igenex Labs be the recipient of the blood.

Other labs only test for one strain of Lyme, not three like Igenex.

Sure. One of my first symptoms. Could not get out of bed for 24/7. I'd had mono as a teenager and thought that it'd come back. At work I would hang on the office fixtures before I could proceed to go on.

I would certainly suspect Lyme. When I start speculating on many various illnesses, I can be certain that it's Lyme because it always is changing.

OMG! YES!!!

One of the reasons I'm now walking with a cane is to give me some sense of "backup" because my dizziness can come & stay for great lengths of time. It can make me want to hurl!

Sometimes I feel like my legs are moving me forward & my brain is insisting that I go back to bed...or at least walk backwards.

Vertigo can be a sign of a lot of stuff.

I for one have started looking at life now through Lyme-colored glasses - but make sure they are are thorough with their testing.

Blessings,

Ditto on the cane Dr.W~~
think I posted this when I first joined, had lotsa' dizziness, duck put me on Pseudoeph GG, didn't have an ear infection or cold, sinus infection or anything. Don't know that the meds helped, but in a few days I could actually get up and down without going to my knees or falling over. Tons of oddities happened to me in late Jan-early March. Have a feeling like I maight get real dizzy, but I don't. Kind of like I learned to relax into the double vision, and it doesn't seem to last very long, hasn't happened at all this month YET!

Probably my worst sypmtom has been dizzyness and accompanying vertigo. I still have trouble driivng and did pass out a few times from dizzyness and hypotension. Maclizine didn't help much. Abx and Mepron have helped. Still not 100%. You do not want to be in a car behind me when I am on my bicycle!

I get that way from time to time although nothing so severe its caused me to go to the hospital. Its a scarey symptom though. I also pretty bad vertigo at times as well.

Thanks, folks!

I've passed your responses along and hope that he'll be encouraged to follow through with lyme screening, and not just roll over and accept a dx of MS.
