I am experiencing a lot of weight loss since having lyme. Could this be caused by the abx or is it the lyme bacteria itself? Lost about 60 pounds over the past two years since I got sick. Anybody else have significant weight loss and does it take a long time to get back to a normal weight?

I lost 50lbs... and magically gained 8 lbs back in about 3 weeks after treating for parasites. So obviously I wasn't absorbing anything for a long time.

Have you been checked or treated for coinfections also? I also had Bartonella.

No, I have not been tested for co-infections yet but I am going to ask my LLMD on my next visit. Maybe co-infections are causing the weight problem. Thanks for the response, lymeinhell!

I've lost 25-30 lbs off my original 130lb frame. Haven't been treated yet thus no data on gaining it back.

I suspect that with treatment, ability to move again (and thus increased muscle mass), and better nutrition, it will come back just fine.

Wish I was one of the gainers....

I for one, was quite happy to lose the weight, and still have a good 20 (now 28) to lose. Lord knows where it all came from, but I started gaining weight slowly 10 years ago when I had 'mono' (aka, my first Lyme infection).

I used this for 10 days... http://www.paradevices.com/indexoz.html

and , uh, obviously, it worked. Have no fear, it blasts parasites into pieces, so if you're worried about seeing some 12 inch creature, you won't. It was quite easy to use, and I plan on using it every 6 months.

I have lost 40 over the last year-went from 210 to 168. I was diagnosed in early Dec 2004 with lyme and am in my 4th month of treatment and showing minor improvements after being told I had ALS over a year ago. My LLMD said, "eat a lot of protein". I drink 4oz of whey protein with water twice a day, and each serving has 20g of protein, also lifting light weights to regain arm/shoulder/hand strength.

for me lack of appetite seems to be a symptom of babesia

Want some of mine?

I got about 40 lbs extra I could give ya.

Weight loss is a symptom of babesia. I actually lost 25 lbs in teh beginning, then gained ALL that back, plus 40 MORE lbs

Col - maybe we could sell it ?

i lost over 70 lb started while treating babs but just kept going - (personally I'm happy with it, others think its too much) BUT some type of disease process has done it.

Now I can't stop eating so I'll probably gain it back - probably COL's curse, lol.
