I researched/studied BB back in 1999. The last 6 years I've worked in Corporate Wasteland. I finally started to put together a website where I could post some video microscopy that I shot back then. It was one of the most interesting times of my life. After the opportunity ended I was never able to find a job in the Chicagoland area studying the bug.
Videos demonstrate.
-Normal swimming motion
-Cyst formation
-Long form BB
-Mass forms of BB
-BB Growth from long thin non-spiral protrusions.
Feel free to reference this site.
This videos were made with the ATCC Strain Borrelia Burgdorferi 31. http://www.atcc.org/catalog/numSearch/numResults.cfm?atccNum=35210

Please allow a long time for the videos to load. You probable will have to have High Speed internet and it will still take 5 minutes or so. Go get a coffee!! Its worth it.
If you have any contacts for me in the Chicago area that would be cool.

You can also click on the scroll bar and fast forward and reverse the action.

All movies are Bb31 in BSKII agar. Live slide prep on Darkfield Microscope at 1000X. Use the scroll bar on the movie viewer to toggle back and forth. This will help to see the details of the moment.
Movies will take a few minutes to load with high speed. Longer with dial-up. Go get a coffee.
Subject: Normal Bug Life
Title: Swimmer
Normal textbook morphology. Six spirals long. Motal. Actual speed not sped up. This boy moves. Nonviscous fluid doesn't allow the coils to really grab anything, but the bug does manage to cross the field of view.
A recurring theme is the very little jiggly guys that move around in all of these Bb31 monocultures. I know, I know. "Brownian motion". That explains the random movements but immunoflurecent staining shows objects this size that stain positive. One shows up in the last few seconds of this movie.
Subjects: Morphology and "Cysts"
Title: "Death or Dormant"
Two large "double spirochetes" Bb31 in BSKII agar with penicillin solution added to live slide prep.
Upper left bugs.
The upper "double spirochete" has a few smaller ones near it. You will see three or more after you watch it a few times.
Lower right bugs.
A perfect double spirochete. Double only forms one "cyst". Not sure why, maybe because they are still attached. If separated I think they would form two. Use the slider on the movie projector to go frame by frame to see the spiro uncoil to one long straight form then "cyst" or lyse. Depending on which side of the lyme controversy you stand on. Dead bug or Dormant bug.
Subject: Growth and other "Cysts"
Title: Inside the "Cyst"
A few visible spirochetal "eggs" inside a "cyst"? These cysts are always connected to or form directly from an adult spirochete. The thin young spirochete has either grown out of the "cyst" or made the "cyst". Never the less internal structures are visible.
And I am on T1 line very fast no movie

I'll keep trying, cuz I do for some warped reason want to know what the little body snatchers swimming around inside me look like. Motion pictures are far better then snap shots in this case.
THEY ARE GREAT. I have never seen anything like them out there- only pic. Try it for your self.

One thing to try.
I used this codec to compress file.
See if downloading it helps.
Indeo Video 5
Google:
Indeo Video 5 or try link below. http://freepctech.com/pc/002/files011.shtml
Indeo Video Codecs
2mg
Contains the Indeo IR3*, IV4*, and IV5* codecs. Recently the Ligos Corporation took over Indeo video development from Intel Architecture Labs. They have updated Indeo Video to Indeo Video 5.11 and will continue to develop the technology in the future. Please visit the Ligos Corporations website for more information and support.
Can you make the others also available for download?
