Benzathine penn. G. deep intramuscular shots.

You have to shake the bottle but never shake it like a spray paint can just rock it gently side to side. Or you get a diluted foam shot.

MADDOG P.S. I did the shaking and the penn. failed. I now have to do the shots for another year from this point.

I'm not a doctor, but my LLMD would only keep me on IV Rocephin for two months because he said after that it would be too taxing on the liver.

I did follow with 8 months on orals and came out doing just fine.

I've been symptom free since January and counting.

I guess what I'm trying to say is that you probably have been able to tolerate enough of it to do a really good job against the Lyme without going overboard and doing yourself harm.

Best of luck
Nancy

Because I've gotten a rash from keflex in the past, my LLMD, Dr C, is suggesting I might also be allergic to IV Rocephin and is suggesting IV Primaxin as an alternative. I've not started yet.

Has anyone tried IV Primaxin?

I developed an allergy to rocephin as well (have a penicillin allergy since kidhood). Have used Primaxin with great success.

*****Penicillins, cephalosporins, imepenem (primaxin) ALL CROSS-REACT for allergies. GET ALLERGY TESTED FOR ANY NEW DRUG in these families now that you have such an allergy.********

My WBC got so low from Rocep that I had to switch to Claforan.

I wish they would develop IM Biaxin! That would be so great!
