I remonstrate with you Lou, but I eventually had to watch my intake of tea. I guess an intolerance of some kind developed.
I was once able to drink tea regularly, including green tea, but at some point, back in 2002 I could tell it was affecting my thyroid, in that I'd get a little 'crazed,' and the lower left hand side of my neck from the base up, made me feel "conscious' of the physical presence of it;" it also felt a little warm, almost imperceptibly warm. It took a long time to finally peg this effect to regular tea, and to green tea. no matter the brand,and--facetiously-- whether,or not "blessed by the Devil, the Pope the Dali Lama, the Massai,Mullah, Rabbi, Animist, Vulcan,Communist, Gypsy, or Conartist, Shakti and/or Shiva, my dead Lutheran Grandfather, or Catholic Grandmother.
For some odd reason, coffee doesn't have this effect.
However, I will still occasionally drink tea, no matter the brand, or color, and the intensity of the negative effect varies.
I don't drink decaffeinated tea. I can't see how the stuff sells.
Anyone have a one-sentence explanation?

Do you know if that includes green tea capsules/pills?
Thanks,

There are also impurities that are extremely toxic that stem from pesticide use, etc. on tea that is not organic, some of which even make there way into organic te to some extent, due to the pervasiveness of non-sustainable agricultural practices.
Toxicity of natural fluoride totally pale beside these. And moderate consumption of green tea has benefits that work to nullify any additional danger from the natural fluoride in tea.
I have drunk tea in copious amounts my whole liofe. Until I got lyme I was the epitomy of robust health, despite some incredible injuries and the loss of my spleen!.
And though it took me awhile, I did eventually beat the lyme (but, yep, all it takes is one tick...) this time around.
I feel green tea helped restore some of the energy I lost due to lyme. And not only because of the caffein; coffee, in fact, tends to have the opposite effect.
"There is fluoride, and there is, uh, you know, .... ...'fluoride'... ...", is a way I like to put it.
I heard once, though I have not much confidence in the source, the some of the fluoride they put in drinking water even comes from nuclear reactors. It would be pretty hard to prevent some nasty isotopic (radioactive, in many cases) impurities from getting into fluoride that comes fromthat source!.
Not only that, but the chemical formulation of the fluoride in tea is very likely not nearly as reactive ("oxidizing") as the usual fluporide salt, sodium fluoride with which they spike the ...'drinking'... water in this country.!
-just a few thoughts...

The potential is there because of the toxins and chemicals ,, but out threshold is different for all of us.
If he had his way we would all be living in a ceramic trailer earing nothing but lettuce and drinking tripple filtered ogygenated sterilized water.
Dave, I wouldn't doubt the Fl- sh*t from the reactor industry. They're always trying to off radionuclides for medical research, and clinical research, clinical applications, and for any reason they cn find to get rid of the stuf and for income;much of which, I agree with for lab research because they are needed to elucidate metabolic pathways; but if on humans, I draw the line on some of these.
Heard the history of Fl- and, I think, the aluminum industry.
On a positive note about Fl-, the Fl- atom on the flouro-quinolone abx is supposed to confer a broader microbia-killing profile; tendonitis, and other effects are the trade off.
If we worry about everything we'll have nothing to eat or drink. The air is even dangerous because of cellphone towers!
We do the best we can. I think the benefits of tea outweigh the problems. We'd need to look at populations--do all the Asians who drink tons of tea daily have mottled teeth and bad thyroids?

Everything in moderation. Absolutely!!!
Unfortunately, we do have to worry about everything today!
The environment is more poluted and toxic than ever before.
And there are more useless drugs and supplements and treatments than ever before.
If you don't worry, you'll sink...IMHO.
Fortunately, it's a good time to worry, because information is so readily available from the internet.
Sifting through it is the downside.
What's true, what's not? That's why there's LymeNet.

1) organic tea or
2) decaffinated tea.
Any reason to believe flouride content could be much lower in these?
Michael
I've never noticed anything weird happening other than a few white spots on my teeth (which my dentist buffed off eventually) so eh.
I also had a bad tea habit for years. What I did notice is that caffeine does bad things, like cause bloating, and rather extreme PMS moodiness. (fine the rest of the month though) So really I'd point a finger at caffeine if anything.
"Dental fluorosis is the first visible indicator that severe thyroid hormone dysfunction has occurred and is occurring. It is NOT a mere cosmetic effect as the dental profession would like us to believe. The evidence is staggering."
That's complete crap. My thyroid was absolutely normal until a year ago and it's technically still in the normal range if on the low side.
Low thyroid could be cause also because of hormone binding of the lyme disease.... And I don't drink flourinated water anymore, or drink green tea or any caffeinated tea for that matter...so my exposure is now nill.
My cholesteral is exceptionally low. So I think that's more a factor of what you eat, excercise, and your genetic makeup than anything else.
Less cavities=good!
here's a thought:
places with flourination have undiagnosed lyme patients in study? Cause that would really skew the numbers.
I was also looking at this guy's website. And his recommened diet "What most people don't know is that you don't actually need carbohydrates -- they aren't essential for survival."
Frankly I think that's untrue. It puts a strain on your liver. And sure "eskimos" didn't eat grains but they also went crazy in the winter without sunlight. And who wants that really? http://www.illwillpress.com/fatkins.html for a little cartoon humor.
Seems like he's got some good ideas but overall..but carbs are good for you in the right quantities. I feel like *** if eat too much protein. That's just how my body works. I have a friend that's the opposite.
You need to eat healthy it's true. And if you're obese, then a good diet is in order. I have the opposite trouble of trying to keep a normal weight...especially with all the nausea and so forth I find it hard to eat much of anything.
I would agree you should be filtering the water you drink. If you aren't feeling freaked out about what's in the water out of your tap you can get a free report from your city with the ppm of all the things in the water. Most bigger cities will have a website that probably includes this info.

By the By, I use an Osmosis filter to remove florides, other poisons, and bugs from our drinking water....

DocDave, is this a concern for those with Lyme?
