Ive had professional massages done before. I notice that each time I have one done I usually feel "achey" and almost flu like for a couple days afterward. Any reason for this? Is it just because its releasing the toxins built up in my muscles?

That happens to me too. I think it's a toxin release. Just remember to drink a lot of water. I've found that a sauna after a massage really helps to detox, also.

Yes, it's natural. Drink 2-3 times MORE than what you usually drink to get rid of the toxins released by your deep=tissue massage.

I've been splurging once/month on these...my gift to myself.

My left thigh sciatic is really bad & has been for 6 months now. So many knots in there; she spends most of her time there and my right neck/shoulder/lower back areas.

Lucky you; enjoying a sauna afterwards; I'm allergic to smells!

yeap it's a very toxic feeling and you will need to drink a ton of water to help flush them out. Hopefully it will be followed by a good day or two.

The more often you can have a massage or even lymph drainage the better. Gotta move that crap around and get it out.

Take care, Pam

I so wish I could afford them more often but since insurance isn't gonna pay for them , that isn't about to happen. Im shooting for once a month if my dh is ok with it. My whole body aches today but the tension is most definately down!!

This woman is phenomenol as well-shes only $45.00 for an hour and she comes to my house!

If you can swing it, get some foot detox patches and use them when you get the massage - actually, as much as you can afford to. It'll help get rid of the garbage that's released when you get the massage. Really - it works.

Nal, 2 yrs ago I opened my insurance in-network book of docs and said there's got to be somebody in here that can help me.

I went to the Physical Therapy section and stated going through the docs & clinics and ran across one that was called Holistic Physcial Therapy. I thought that sounded like the place I needed to be. Called them and went the next day. They had someone that did lymph drainage and cranial-sacral work. Insurance would only pay for 20 visits a year, but I used it.

Maybe you can find some place like that. Just an idea.

Take care, Pam

Ditto on the water. I get a massage every 2 weeks. I schedule it for a time when I will have no important commitments for a day or two after. My massage therapist always hands a litre of water after a massage and tells me to drink the whole thing. I have no trouble downing the whole bottle.

Great idea, Pam! I'm getting my book out! I used to get PT and cranial-sacral until my insurance said no more. Cranial was wonderful!

I just had the same experience the last couple days post-massage and was wondering this myself. Thanks everyone... Can someone please tell me what the detox foot patches are, and where you get them?

Thanks much.

They detox your body by pulling toxins out through the sweat glands on your feet. Your feet have the most number of sweat glands in your body.

Based on reflexology - each part of your foot correlates to different parts of your body.

Each patch covers about 1/3rd of your foot. An hour before betime, wash and dry feet. Put patch on either top, middle or heel part of foot. Then put on socks - walk around a bit. They need to get warm in order to activate the tourmaline.

In the am, they'll be oozing with black junk if you needed to detox. About 3 weeks after nightly use, you'll see a big improvement in mental clarity and pain levels.

I've been using them for a year now, and off abx since November.

There are cheaper sources - some here buy them on EBay. But can't tell you about the quality. I've been told by users of the higher $ ones and the cheaper ones that the ones on Ebay are smaller, the adhesive falls apart, and don't work as well.
