Anyone do this one? What were the results? I know it is a midi-line instead of picc line..

Hi Daniella,

I haven't done IV Doxy, but I have a friend who has and it did help her some, before she started having a minor allergic reaction and had to stop it.

I do believe it's caustic to the veins and therefore requires a full central line (i.e. mid-line won't work as well). So a PICC line or any kind of chest line would be the best way to get it. I may be wrong, but I believe that's the case.

Hope someone else can give you more info.

the importance of using doxy is its peak blood plasma level.

if the latter is monitored you can achieve the same effects with oral doxy. but there are cocerns for stomach tolerance, and of course (being almost summer) sun sensitivity.

600+ mg per day of doxy could be as effacious as IV.
