I had all of my fillings replaced about 9 years ago. I really think it was one of the worst things I have ever done to my health. Here is why, but keep in mind that I had it done by a dentist trained by Dr.Huggins and I did constant detoxing with chinese herbs presribed by my herbalist who tests all of the herbs for purity. The white fillings are also toxic and estrogenic I think. All of this work changed my Bite. this in turn changed the way my jaw joint connected to back of my head and neck. this affects how my brain signals the rest of my body especially the adrenals. I did not figure this out myself. i went to a dentist who specialized in undoing this type of damage. When he explained all this to me it fit into my experiences . I hope this makes sense. i did not have this fixed because of lack 0f money

My dentist who also "had" Lyme with his whole family told me NOT to remove the silver filings.

He has a mounthful of silver and he seems ok.

So far I'm ok except for cavities.

It sounds like getting rid of the mercury wasnt the problem. But, the dentist that did your replacement work wasnt any good. I am in the middle of having mine replaced.

This is how my experience is different. First, I had a blood test done to determine which dental materials I'm allergic to and which would be appropriate to use in my mouth as a replacement to the mercury fillings.

Most of mine are being replaced with ceramic, one will be composite. There is more than one kind of composite and ceramic material possible to use, made by different manufacturers. Some ceramics would not be good for me because of the particular mix of materials, I am sensitive to alot of things. Because of the allergy testing done (specific for dental materials) we went into material choice with confidence, and I am not having problems with the new material.

Secondly, the dentist I'm seeing is realy good at fit and replacement, he takes impressions, sends out to a good lab etc... This is especially important with the ceramic, although it can be ground for further refinement after placement too. Composite is ground and shaped after put into a tooth, like mercury filings. There is no excuse for someone leaving your mouth in such a state. I am so sorry. It must be terrible. Is there no recourse for this shoddy work ??
I wonder if someone could at least spend some time grinding and shaping what's there to at least improve the fit.

Composite material doesnt last as long as mercury filings or ceramic and will not work as well for realy large fillings. This is why so many of my teeth are going to ceramic partial crowns. I have alot of old, failing, large fillings.

Im sorry that it did not make you better. Perhaps there are still other loads on your immune system that need to be addresssed, or a different type of detox to get metals out. Have you had any testing to see if you still have a metal toxitity problem ?

You might want to read the other thread on mercury/amalgams. It's not realy much of a poll right now, but might be interesting reading for you.

I had two lyme docs an art , my homeopath and my accupuncturist tell me NOT to remove my fillings..they say more people have problems after than it's worth..it stirs up lots of trouble...some are luckyand it helps..they said most it doesn't and it's a waste of money and sometiems makes them sicker..

I'm stuck with mine and stillfeeling great.

I also learned from a lyme literate neuro
that taking amalgams out can cause more
problems with those with neuro symptoms. I
learned from him and a regular doc that lupus
and ms patients who did it, became sicker.

The one tooth that was replaced with a composite onlay due to breakage gives me
more problems than all my other teeth. Also,
I went to a biological dentist, who did blood
work, careful mercury removal, etc.

That is where I am stuck with nerve pain.
