Is it ok to be using a steroidal inhaler if you have Lymes Disease?

I hope so, because I just developed asthma following a round of the flu. The way I figure it, I have to take it for now. I hope I won't have to for long.

I had taken Flonase for years and it didn't seem to make any difference with my Lyme disease. I finally got off the Flonase, now it's Advair. UGH!

Yes. Been using a steroid inhaler of some sort for my severe asthma for at least 20 years now. Have been VERY well between recurrences of LD, so you can be very sick and get well on Abx even in the presence of a steroid inhaler. After all, breathing is a good thing for one's body...

Would you seriously consider NOT taking the inhaler if someone came along and said "oh no! that is the worst thing you can do!" What would you do about your breathing????

I use flonase and advair and haven't had any problems doing so. My LLMD also said it was okay to use them.

Before I started treatment for my asthma I often had asthma attacks during the night while I slept. My untreated asthma also led to two bouts of pneumonia(not fun).

My daughter hs done steroid inhalers since infancy, but does Azmacort (the steroid) separately from the bronchodilator (albuterol) so that the dose of each can be as minimal a spossible. Most times, she does Azmacort only at the lowest possible dose, and then does albuterol either as a rescue med or to help get the Azmacort where it si suppsed to go, if she is having some bronchospasm.

Watch out for an increased chance of yeast with a steroid inhaler, esp. if you are on antibiotics for lyme. There is esp. an increased chance of thrush, or yeast in your mouth. Rinsing and gargling after each puff is supposed to help, but my daughter rarely complies with this suggestion. Nystatin "swish and swallow" takes care of thrush fast.

I use Singulair and albuterol. I was on Pulmicort and surprise, it made me really sick.

So Advair has a steroid and albuterol [or something like it]?
