I am travelling to visit my sister in East Africa and they require immunization with live vaccines. Anyone ever had a problem with those? Should I try to get a waiver or go ahead and take my chances????

I may have had a problem from vaccines, and they weren't even live. In my opinion Lyme screws up the immune system and increases the chances of an abnormal reaction to a vaccine. I plan to avoid vaccines for the rest of my life.

Who's requiring you to get immunizations?

I believe the warnings on immunizations warn the doctor against using them on immune-compromised patients (he won't take the time to read it or properly warn you, so investigate it yourself). You don't think your immune system is compromised? I would be surprised if a doctor would even be willing to immunize you with Lyme, because he could be held liable if you have a bad reaction.

You're right, you are taking your chances.

Our LLMD says these vacines *may* be hard for LD patients to tolerate.... however the disease it's self may be worse (or not).

Talk with your LLMD to see what he thinks is best for you!

Thanks for your references. I wish I had listened. I took only the Yellow Fever vaccine because it was a "requirement" for my visa. These so called live vaccine really are dangerous. The day I got the vaccine I was ok. The next day I woke up sore and stiff as usual but it got progressively worst. Later on the 2nd day I was crawling on all 4's and haven't been able to walk on my own power. The fatigue is unbelieveable! I definately would tell any other person with lyme "just say no". I leave next Sunday and I hope I can walk by then.

Before doing this you may want to do a search on the group Vaccine Truth. I know they have a web site.

After I had a reaction to the Hept. B vaccine (boils), they were the only ones who had French studies available. The CDC still insists that boils are not a side effect...yet there are European studies.

I'm sorry this happened. Have you looked into the Vaccine Adverse Event Reporting System? You may be entitled to compensation; document all the symptoms that resulted from the shot. I wouldn't think having to crawl on all fours is considered a "normal" side effect.

Hi

I went to Brazil a few weeks ago.
They suggested several types of shots.
I spoke with my LLMD.

He said tetanus is not good for us with LD.

I opted to NOT get any shots. I just watched what I ate and ONLY drank and washed teeth with bottled water.

Worked out ok.

No vaccines!!!!!!

I don't have the references handy..but if you Google you will find..

They are God-awful for anyone's immune system and there has never been any proof that they work! ...there are ways to get your kids out of them for schools or other travel, ect. requirements.

Noone tells you there are ways to exempt, they just tell you you MUST have them.
Check the web and I'll pst if I find my documents.

Don't get any more and I hope you feel better soon and enjoy your trip.

You should have a Malaria treatment on hand, such as Riamet, which I believe should be available to travelors to self administer should you come down with Malaria. I also am pretty sure you can get it over the counter in Africa but you should check that.

I had a chance to go to South Africa a couple of years back. I declined because I did not want to risk major relapse with vaccine....plus, malaria was another major put-off.

My LLMD said tetanus said is OK to have, however, my gut feeling is I should not have it, or any other more shots.

My daughter had the MMR (as virtually all kids do) and not only did she get what seemed to me and doc a case of measles, but when she was three she got mumps too...so she got two of the diseases she was supposed to get protected against.

kormoo - i am so sorry that you got this immunization....i've been homebound and pretty much on the couch since i had mine 6 years ago when i was planning on going to the amazon....however, if you are able to go i strongly suggest that you get an order for oxygen (ck with airline first) and use one of those mini ionizers - your immune system can't handle any more insults...i din't know that i had lyme or an immune problem before i was vaccinated for yellow fever but various insect bites had done me in previously...

This is a good site with lots of references, including finding out the laws for your state.

In any state you can get a philosophical exemption, or a religious one.

The religious one simply required stating you are of the belief pf a certain religion that does not allow vaccination ..
you do not have to be practicing that religion.
You'll get flack but if you know your rights you can very calmly become exempt. They cannot force you or keep kids out of school (as they say) if you follow the basic steps and submit letters as per the law.

Check your laws first. I believe this site also has an option to buy a leaflet for a few bucks with your state regs and a form.

You can also find a page on Mercola website, lots of other google refs..
and look at the statement before congress by Dr. William Howard Hay on the small pox vaccine.

This has never been scientifically proven to work!! Any form of vaccination! And we have not been informed of the dangers.

Docs are just going by what they have been taught, schools threaten because that's what they have been programmed to do.

I must say even the wonderful Doc J (who's word on TBD's I will never doubt)..
is of an old school mindset on vaccinations.
He doesn't think they are horrible, but at the same time I bet he may agree if you are concerned about immune health (noone with depresed immunity should ever take vaccine and that is universally acknowledged)
but a note from a Doc along this line would only be temporary.
IMO, if you get educated and know you want out, go for the exemption as per state law rather than a Docs note.

This is really a subject that is specialized and you have to research for yourself. IMO, with all the risks and documentation, and even as a layperson just looking over the science..
this is another medical debacle.

Vaccines are dangerous and can harm the immune system, cause autism in children, and do not protect you from disease.
Mercury and the infectious agents unnaturally injected directly into the blood stream (bi-passing many immune system check points) are just two of the concerns.
