My 8 year old son was infected 2 years ago. He was treated ineffectively. Now he's relapsed. Thanks to all of you, we have an appointment with an LLMD, and he's on doxy. However, our doxy will run shy by about 1 week before the appointment. We have both pennicillan and amox on hand. Which should I give him in the interim? Or, is it very important that I get him more doxy? Thank you.

Personally, I would stick with the Doxy as is effective for the Lyme and Ehrlichia.
I don't know about your weather, but in the northeast it hasn't been very sunny or warm so it would be a good time to complete Doxy.

Hi Mik Has you son been on doxi a long time? I have--and if I miss a day- the lyme comes back hard- If he has been taking low dose it might not make much diffrence. Good luck to you -Jay-

Not affiliated with the site in any way, but I've heard that http://www.mastersmarketing.com sells good product but tends to be very lax (as in, doesn't ask) about prescriptions for non-controlled substances.
HOWEVER - I've heard warnings about using Doxy on children as any tetracycline-class antibiotics can stain developing teeth.

I would really suggest contacting a physician first. I'm one of those who don't believe in self prescribing, particularly if your son is a child.
Disclaimer said, penicillin was the first abx I was on for Lyme. I don't think it's very effective, but we used a penicillin challenge (starting at a very low dose and slowly increasing) to test for a possible allergy.
Also, check expiration dates. If they are expired, they may not be much use.
