Greetings:
I was wondering if anyone else has had to fight with their insurance company about coverage of Rocephin for more than 4 weeks.

Thanks,
Peggy

Hi Pegger,

See your just south of the border from us. We were fortunate that our insurance did not fight us for 5 months of IV. Some insurance companies would fight stitches if your leg was hanging by a thread.

Many here have gone through this and will be able to offer some advice. There's a "newbie" links around here somewhere, and one of the topics covered will be insurance coverage. Lot's of good advice in there.

Go to the first link for all newbie info.

My insurance coverage has denied me any IV rocephin, even though they have a letter from Dr. F at Columbia Univ. Medical center stating I should be on it!

I hate insurance companies!

The LymeTimes latest issue (available for purchase through www.caldda.intranets.com is all about dealing with insurance issues.

The only thing that I can't figure out is that I think the "form letters" (and they've got a great one on IV rocephin) may be on their web page somewhere to download and personalize, and I can't find it....

So, if anyone knows how I might access it...or if it is there, please let me know.

To those of you who don't have to battle your insurance company...I am JEALOUS!!

It WOULD be an insurance company to stand up against Dr. F!! Who else would even try??

We had BCBS at the time and they didn't complain with having her a Hickman put in for her IV Rocephin.... however on approx. day 27 they said they wouldn't be covering the Rocephin after day 30 and they would cover to have her line pulled in the next few days! UGH! That was about 3 years ago.

Multiple phone calls and letters and support documents were provided - but to no avail..... BCBC wound't budge!

I hope your insurance company plan goes better!
