ever since I've known that I've had LD (and even before) I have had some rather significant amounts of itching in my genital area (scrotum to be specific). I don't have a yeast infection, as I have been given several courses of yeast killing drugs. It seems that the itching becomes more intense at various times.

When I wake up from sleeping at night, it's almost a sure bet that I will be itchy.

It seems that when taking certain abx, the itching does decrease but I can't really be certain because it never goes away entirely.

Is this a common experience among LD carriers?

I've experienced the extreme itching at times (even though I don't have scrotum) - and I also thought it was yeast at first - but was curious because I was itching ALL OVER like a crazy person that had just rolled around in poison ivy.

My LLMD told me I was having a histamine reaction and told me to take Benadryl. I can't remember how much he told me to take...but it worked.

If you want to try it - I think you should at least call your pharmacist to make sure there aren't contraindications to it with your other meds.

Good luck - I know it's hard to rest well when you're clawing yourself half to death.

Hey - maybe until the itching stops you can duct tape some oven mittens to your hands (like I saw on a commercial...I'm not that creative.)

Again, good luck!

thanks for the advice! Fortunately, the itching isn't really much a problem during the daytime hours!! I just hope that it, like the other symptoms, will continue to slowly decline.

My daughter has been on Ataraz (perscription med for itching) for years now.
