Hi again,

It was this web site that led me to my wonderful LLMD...Dr. C. I have learned so much from you all.

I was taken off ATB's and Heparin due to very low WBC's. I asked for suggestions and am pushing vitamin C and lots of other vitamins. Also drinking pure water, sleeping a lot, taking very small amts. of colloidal silver and putting it down my nose. (Which I have done before.)

But as per usual, I am getting what feels like a bacterial sinus infection that only goes away when I'm on ATB's and feeling worse every day.

I've been to 3 ENT's (1 from the Mayo Clinic) and tried a miriad of tx's over the past 4 years...ATB's, nasal sprays/washes. (They NEVER did a culture by the way!)

So my predicament is this: Antibiotics make my WBC's go down. I have LD. I have something else that is complicating treatment for LD which started at about the same time as the LD. It feels like sinus infection.

I have read threads about the sinus problems of others.

I was on Cipro last week before I realized my WBC's were so low. Even with a WBC of 2.2, I felt better than now. I once considered a fungal infection but if Cipro takes away the symptoms, it's probably not fungal.

I am trying desperately to keep from getting sicker.

Any suggestions?

Additionally: I bought some Astragalus per suggestion and can't find much info. What is dosage and what does it do?

What is this about Bactroban up the nose?

Thank-You a lot!

I had continual sinus infections until I had sinus surgery. Did any of the ENT's you went to do a CAT scan of your sinuses? Mine were found to be draining improperly, and my ENT cut a small window in them, and now they drain almost too well! But I hardly ever have a stopped up nose, just a lot of post-nasal drainage.

I later had to have my tonsils out (at 40!!) which was no fun, because the infection decided if it couldn't take up residence in my sinuses, it would attack my tonsils. The tonsillectomy took care of that also. This was all before I knew I had lyme.

notimetowork,

Yes! I had 4 CT scans...they all showed MILD chronic sinus problems, but only the first ENT recommended surgery. The last 2 said, "No" I didn't need it.

My tonsils were very bad until I was 20 y.o.

My soft pallette above the uvula (the little punching bag in the back of the throat) has been swollen since all of started. It too gets better with ATB's.

If I thought it would help, I would get my tonsils out, ream out my sinuses.

Thank-You,

Keep thoughts coming please! (=

What did Dr. C suggest?

Dr. C stopped the Clindimycin/Quinine regimin due to falling WBC's then I started getting these symptoms and because I needed to get through our Daughter's graduation he put me on Cipro. I didn't ask but maybe it's because it wouldn't cause die off...more inflammation and it's broad spectrum enough to kill most other things. But after 7 days on Cipro I had blood drawn again and WBC's were down to 2.2. I continued Heparin throughout the Cipro. The crazy thing is that I felt so much better on Cipro even with seriously low WBC's.

bug,
Here is something that may help your sinuses:

Serrapeptase http://www.smart-nutrition.net/serrapeptase-research.htm

Scroll down to the section about sinus.

Thank-you Carol.

Hey all, what about this?...I had Shingles 25 years ago. I had a lesion on my forehead. This is in close proximity to where the tick latched on. In some ways I feel similar to how I felt then. Could there be any connection? I was just reading Dr. Klinghardt's writings about LD and he mentions Herpetic viruses and trying Valtrex.

Hi bug! I'm sorry you're having this problem. Sounds rather complicated. Maybe look into Lauricidin. It helps clear the body of viruses and bacterial stuff.

Email me if you need more info.

Are you supposed to have another blood test soon, or what?

Yes, Dr. C said to stop Antibiotics, Heparin and Supplements for 1 week, get blood rechecked. If I get too sick, go to local ER for possible spinal tap. (I'm trying to avoid that).
