I read in Dr. C's handouts that taking
alergy medications like claritin is a
good thing to do while being treated for
Lyme. I no longer have that handout but
I think it had something to do with the
fact that if your body isn't fighting an
alergy then it has more strength to fight
lyme..

Now I read a post where someone says
that Antihistimines surpress the immune
system and makes lyme treatment less
effective.

So what's the deal? Claritin really makes
me feel better this time of year..

I think the concern would be if the antihistimine has steroidal compounds in it. I'm not sure which one's are free of steroids ? Our LLMD prescribed rx allegra, when my son contracted a sinus infection.

It did not flare his lyme symptoms.
