Hi, I started 500 mg IV Zithro about 3 weeks ago after being on a year of orals and 2.5 mo. of IV Rocephin. Over the past few days, I've noticed that my balance and walking have gotten alot worse. Has anyone else had this problem? I'm scared.

Yes, I did have what you describe. It was worse after my first 8 months of treatment. Treating for Babesiosis helped. Not sure if that is what you have but, it did help me. The Babs came on strong during treatment for Lyme alone.

When I started with 800mg of Ketek in March I went straight to having to use a walker from using a cane. I am still using the walker.

My LLMD and I are not too worried as we both believe it to be a herx.

I know it's hard, but try to think of it as a good thing. We usually get worse before we get better. It's the first step on the road to recovery.

Good luck. Don't be scared.

ive been slam dunked into bed barely able to move with a major herx , so yes this seems highly possible to me that you are having a herx
best thing you can do is relax as much as possible , dont try to do much other than pamper yourself . hang in there

I am soo going through the same thing now. I just started tx. I've been on 400mg of doxy for 3 weeks and I can barely walk!

Balance & walking was difficult before, but now it's almost impossible. I try to avoid it altogether.

So, maybe you hit the right medication now? It sure feels yucky I know. Just keep positive for those brighter days ahead. Sometimes we do have to feel worse before we get better...We have to believe!

Hang on, I'm with you!!
