A friend highly recommended the book Natural Cures They Don't Want You To Know About bY Kevin Trudeau. Has anyone read this book and is it worth reading?
From FDA website http://www.fda.gov/fdac/departs/2003/503_upd.html
"The Federal Trade Commission (FTC) has charged two dietary supplement marketers and their companies with making false and unsubstantiated health and medical claims. This enforcement action is part of a series of initiatives by the FDA and the FTC to cut down on deceptive marketing.
Kevin Trudeau and Robert Barefoot, the marketers of Coral Calcium Supreme Dietary Supplement, violated the FTC Act by claiming, falsely and without substantiation, that the supplement can treat or cure cancer and other diseases, investigators say. In a separate action, the FTC charged Trudeau with violating a previous court order by claiming that a pain-relief product called Biotape provides significant or permanent relief from severe pain."
Day wrote a good book called, what the gov. isnt telling you about AIDS. She is a good Dr., but an anti-semite so I refuse to purchase her materials.
I have no problem with a Dr. in trouble with the FDA and/or the CDC. When you step out in science, you step out alone.
The Dr. who insisted that Dr.'s wash their hands before doing surery was run out of the medical profession.
I've seen his infomercials, and I've not seen him make such claims. I don't know the guy at all, except for his prescence on television, where he discusses the politics and economics of the medico-legal-FDA stuff with respect to dietary supplements, BUT in the service of selling a book, and whatever else he is selling, or o/w trying to get the consumer buy. I really found nothing deceptive in this infomercial that I see.
I think the issue the FDA has is that they can't have anyone in the media for any appreciable lenght of time implicitly and explicitly indicting the FDA tactics, and the tactics by the medico-legal-drug industry, and food industry to keep people overweight, addicted, sick, ignorant, stupid and o/w buying 'shale' that will only keep you coming back to the product, drug, doctor, and whomever.
IMO, Its the fact that his informercial, 'bespeaking' certain truths w/rt the forgoing, has been re-run so long that they feel he--i.e.,his long term face presescence on television--is a real threat to the profit of some. So 'they' sigged their Rotweiler, the FDA on him.
The affected industries probably saw the supermarket register receipt of that beer-drinkin', metabolically obese, hamburger-franchise-attending, scratch-the-back-with-the-fork, belching, snoring guy with the Right-Guard/LeftFlank deodorant, and realized he 'got it.' The FDA et.al. can't have this 'shale,' the masses must be kept stupid. This is not good for them.
I didn't purchase it, but went to the website to check it out.
What I saw being constructed for the website were discussion boards for people to go to in order to support each other with particular diseases. If he knew the cures?
No real info. in the book.
