I've been sick for 5 yrs., at least, given what i know now.

Every duck i went to said you're fine - 100%, after their standard round of full blood work-ups! So, if i wanted to give blood - it'd be no problem.

I spent alot of time in Children's Hospital waiting rooms, the summer I was dxd with Lyme, due to a friend with a very sick infant, and no means of transportation.

Decided to fill out paperwork to give blood, thinking I'd make good use of waiting-room time!

I had a gut feeling I had something going on, that the ducks were missing, so I never went forward with donating blood. Thank god, because they would have taken it!

Hell i had 3 negative ELISA's over the last 4 years, and even though i told each duck I have Lyme, not one of them performed a WB! I had sooo many Lyme symptoms too - that were completely ignored!

It wasn't until i found my llmd and met the CDC criteria for 5 or more + bands, including +'s on DNA and LUAT, Babs & Ehrlichiosis. My llmd referred to me as 500% positive!

What if I had given blood last summer? A child could've gotten my blood! I can barely think about it, it's so disturbing!

Do hospitals test for Lyme using WB? Would they have notified me with a positive result?

Scary thought - How is our blood supply really?

Could our blood supply be contributing to the epidemic rise of Borrelia?

No one tests blood for Lyme.

The Red Cross has resisted even adding a question to their questionarre. Although they do ask if you have had Babesia.

The blood supply has never been safe.

Last year, I posted an ad that ran in NY area where the Red Cross actually put in the ad 'Lyme patients welcome'.

The Red Cross cannot be trusted. Ask any WW II vet. My grandfather couldnt stand them.

Just as we hear of funds being diverted today, that is what went on then. Money would be raised 'for the boys' then the soldiers would have to pay for their own cup of coffee.

The Red Cross cannot be trusted. Ask any vietnam vet: http://www.shortfamilyonline.com/life/archives/000491.php

The Red Cross cannot be trusted. Ask Oklahoma city victims whose pesonal mail was diverted to their offices (and opened) and money removed:

I beleive it's true, just unbeleiviable ya know? Makes you wonder about any charitable organisation and if everyone is crooked, after experiencing and seeing what I have from lyme alone.

Hey you!!! Finally I see you again!!

I got your message finally on the other post.

I have tried to email you several times and my email is being blocked by some spam thing and sent back to me as "blacklisted"!

Will you email ME please???

[email protected]

I hope you see this ALSLyme..

As for the blood supply... even the process they use to store the blood and process it does not kill the bacteria that causes Lyme.

Sad situation... and dangerous.

We need attention in this area... you are right!

By the way... Anybody have a head I can borrow for the weekend? Mine hurts.

After my lyme dx last 7-04, I called our local hospital & told them of my dx. I used to be a regular blood donater for 10-15 years until my fibro got so bad & they would NOT accept blood from a fibromyalgia patient!

I later talked to CEO of our hospital. She said they use the CDC and our WAR DEPT.'s guidelines.

If you have been CURED of lyme disease for one year, we will accept your blood!

I'm sure I was reinfected once or twice during my 12 surgeries.

Can't remember who wrote this, but....
I hope you can stop your teenage from donating blood!
