I get digestive enzymes from my gastro dr. (The ONLY lyme help I get from my hmo)

I usually take Pancrease brand or Viokase. Much higher potency than any digestive

enzymes you from the health food store. I would be wasted away for sure without

them as I can't tolerate any type of antiacid at all. (makes my head pressure even

worse) I get some nutrition that way as I have trouble keeping weight on with this lyme, yeast, leaky gut stuff.

did your enzyme tests come back low? My GI dr won't do that I don't think.

My G.I. dr. never gave me an enzyme test. Doubt if they (Kaiser hmo) even know

what one is! He just suggested the rx digestive enzymes as i could not hack any

antiacids and was losing so much weight. (65lbs. in 6 months when I first got so

sick) I have regained 30 lbs but still am real slim, and inching my food down. But

hey! "I LOOK GOOD!"

Don't you just love that? "YOU LOOK GOOD" -- I have a dear friend who has helped so much with my kids -- but as I was getting thinner (going to bathroom all day) -- she would make jokes about how good I was going to look on the beach. I was always happy with my appearance -- with a little meat on my bones -- i was 30 lbs down in 3 months, now 40 lbs. in a total of 4 months and tried to eat lots of fattening foods (even tho' my janws and teeth hurt too) and now -- my new LLMD says no to dairy products in addition to yeast and sugars -- I am taking diegestive enzyme supplements -- don't know what they will do (herbal supplement) -- My new GI doctor (just moved back into NJ)scoffs at the possibility of Lyme and digestive problems related as I am sure he scoffs at late Disseminated Lyme -- He wrote RX for Colazal and wants to do another colonoscopy -- that was what made my Lyme symptoms so much worse -- not knowing my Lyme had come back and had scope done to check why I was having problems --
then Flagyl and Prednisone -- recipe for disaster -- months later I still cannot keep food in me long enough to get nutrients...... brain stuff on top ... everyone wants to be thin -- I would love to be fat and eat what I wanted and not think about how it will affect my stomach and head and mouth......

56 punds in 3 months is what I lost. Gastro did every test imaginable - made me sicker.

I take digestive enzymes, L-Glutamine, psyllium and bentonite. I have stopped losing and people say, "You look terrific". I look like I just walked out of a concentration camp some mornings!

I think the digestive enzymes help. I don't want to be fat but I do want to look like I don't have anorexia nervousa, which is what one MD told me I had an put me on an anti-depressant. Surprisingly, the anti-depressant helped with my appetite but surely did not help with the runs. I'm off it now.

Be kind to your gut and it will get better.
