hi, i have only been on meds for 2 months or so now. have had some spells where i was super weak for a day or afternoon etc but not a raging herx like so many get. than last week i just got what seems like a common cold but its lasted for a week. started soar throat first night. than running nose for a whole weak. never felt super terrible but wont seem to go away. today a bit of congestion in lungs. the thing is usually a cold makes me feel a little worse. this is about as light as a cold can get. but its persisting for such a long time. just seems unusual to me.
do people get these common cold sytems also when herxing at times? just wondering.

I'm wondering the same thing. I'm having the exact symptoms you described. Suddenly my sensitivity to smoke and other smells is back too. I'm wondering if this is a sign my immune system is getting back in gear.
These symptoms started Friday after my jaw (where the lyme is) and other parts of my face were treated with a cold pulsed laser which is supposed to stimulate healing. Within an hour the cold like symptoms started. The numbness in my face went away immediately.

Yup. My very first herx felt like a head cold (and a heart attack). I often will get swollen throat glands, runny nose, sinus pressure when I am hitting my herx cycle. I always think it is a cold coming on. I think this is normal for some of us.

My weaker herxes I would be achey then I would get cold runny nose every month.
My strong herxes would dang near felt like death warmed over headaches whole body ached then horrendous cold nose running felt swollen head eyes hurt you name it.
YES its the bodies way of ridding the dead spirochetes toxins last resort from what I can tell is the headcold thing.
Drink lots of water and if possible try to sweat that helped me.

sO GLAD THIS QUESTION WAS POSTED. i THOUGHT I WAS NUTS! iT NEVER FAILED...ANY TIME I WENT ON MEDS OR CHANGED THEM, I WOULD END UP WITH A SINUS INFECTION..FEVER, SWEATS, COUGH, CHILLS, ACHY AND OF COURSE MY NOSE JUST DRIPPIN! THANKS!..JELLY

ketek is the only antibiotic that resulted in a raging head cold for me....after a week or so it went away and never came back. deb
