i am personally writing a script for the Fox program House on Tuesday nights. its a great show if anybody has watched it and has a crazy doc that dx crazy bizarre illnesses that are hard to dx,arsenic poisioning, last night was infant measles transfered from the mother to child during pregancy because mother didn't have vacination.at 16 kid got brain damage that could not be dx. well i think i will write a pilot and send it to them about a lyme eposide, so any suggestions would be helpful, or any connections with fox network would be even better.

Um... My LLNP sent out an email to her patients a couple of days ago describing a recent (couple of days ago) "House" episode about Lyme disease.

I totally agree that lyme disease would be a great idea for an episode of "House".
I just started watching it about halfway through the season but I love every episode. I haven't seen an episode on lyme, although they have mentioned it a few times in different episodes as a possibility but the patient was never actually diagnosed with it.
They should do one showing a case of late stage lyme. Let people see just what this horrible disease can do to a person.
I really like Dr. House. Whenever I watch it, I always wish I could find a doctor like him who doesn't just process a person and categorize them based on a few symptoms with a disease with no cure.
Go House!!!!

Doc, does this include your Ms. Palm Beach contest?
Make sure you send a Cc: in to the Library of Congress in DC for Copyright protection and/or register it with the writers Guild before you submit anything blind. They'll probably return it as "unsolicited," but you're better to protect your intellectual property just in case.

Don't send it to Fox Network. It needs to go to the studio producing the show, which may or may not be Fox.
I'll tell you my big concern with Lyme on House. Have you ever noticed how every patient is suddenly better in the last 5 minutes? You want to make sure that they could figure out that it is Lyme, but that the patient has a long road to recovery.
And write some good scenes with Robert Sean Leonard!

I think this would be a great mystery novel/conspiracy novel/movie.
I just can't write.
What about someone with Parkinson's or Alzheimers--their child gets power of attorney an starts pumping them full of abx--we hate the child and the doctor they have on the case. We think the child is seeking revenge bewcause the Mom was crazy and mean to the now adult child--all sorts of motives tossed areound. the alzheimer's person really start to herx and is in pain and miserable and then the person gets better before the hour is up because...it's lyme...
Maybe you could write about a Mom who takes her kid to a shrink because he is seeing monsters and then they say SHE is the crazy one hurting her son and...it's lyme...
Or what about the mom with the kid with Autism and he suddenly gets curred with antibiotics and they blame the mom...and ...it's lyme...
Who was that weight lifter who was in a wheel chair for so many years and then he got treated for lyme...and he could walk before the hour is up...it's lyme
Does anyone know anyone on the WestWing and we could have Bartlett have Lyme?
ACLU? Sue somebody?
Crazy lawyer?
I get frustrated not being able to make something happen.
If you need more story ideas I could do this all day. If you get to go on Oprah--I want to go to Chicago too! But not go on the show--I would hurt the effort not help--too animated.
Good luck!

They had an episode of "House" about Lyme Disease allready. They got it mostly wrong. It was probably a few months ago. They may run it again this summer.

I hate tv and I don't know how but I got into it.
I love the show and would love to go to an ER where they actually diagnose you before they send you home.
I'm sure most of us have been there, get the valium and be dischared.
Best of luck, Scott

The episode that mentions lyme is one in which they have a list of "great imitator" syptoms and are throwing around possible diagnoses....Lyme is suggested and is ruled out as there was never an EM rash.
That was the long and short of it..no more.
House finds the correct diagnosis, of course, and save the day in the last five minutes...
I do enjoy this show...it's really fun...but they are woefully off base about lyme in what little reference I've seen....
Your screenplay could educate them, no?

How about the parent is accused of Munchausen's syndrome by Proxy as the child's bizare symptoms come and go. Dept. of Children & Families is called in, etc. then it turns out to be Lyme. http://flash.lymenet.org/ubb/Forum3/HTML/012776.html

This is a great show. This is what television was invented for. Anyway, I don't recall any episode specific to Lyme, although I did see an episode where it was mentioned as a possible diagnosis (I forgot what the actual dx was, something weird like worms in the brain or something!) I've also seen episodes of ER where Lyme was mentioned in passing, and -- rather insensitively -- an episode of Still Standing where a character says her trip to France as a student was memorable...she slept in a barn and got Lyme Disease. Hey, at least they're not denying its existence.
