Meanwhile she went to a neighboring town to see an Orthopedic MD where he drew off some of the fluid from her knee and sent it off for testing.
Well, Ta Da, the fluid came back positive for Lyme. So he sent her to a regular GP. I told my sister to tell the MD that 3 weeks of abx would not be enough. (My sister thinks she may have had this since last summer because that's when the knee really started acting up).
So when they went in today and my sister explained that she knew of someone who had Lyme disease(me) and that the 3 weeks would not be enough. The MD replied that I was a special case and that the 3 weeks should do it. AAAAARRRRRRRRRRRRGGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHH!
It gets better! They finally called to find out what her blood test showed from the first MD. He didn't bother calling to give them the results because they were negative. Which doesn't surprise me but it just saddens me to know there are so many people out there suffering because of the lame blood testing.
Sorry to ramble on but I have a medical ? My neice's quadricep muscle on her leg with the swollen knee is about 1in smaller compared to her other one. Does this sound Lymey to anyone? She is VERY athletic.
I think I will look into opening a wheelchair and cane business.Anyone got any good ideas for a name? The ducks around here will keep me busy!
No question she has lyme. If a lab in Minnesota found it, she must have it in spades. 3 weeks of abx ? Doubt, it will even make a dent.
After dealing with 33 doctors, there are only 3 that I would trust. Only one I trust for treating Lyme. After being on abx for 5 years, today is my anniversary date of being off of all meds! Success can happen!
Head to MO and see Dr. C. It is the most worth while trip that this family could ever make. It is only a 12 hr drive from central MN, no big deal when it comes to getting better!
