I started taking amantadine in place of Plaquenil, t because it also changes cellular pH to be less acidic, which helps meds like zithromax work better in inside cells.
Amantadine is also used in Parkinson's (affects dopamine levels in the brain) and in MS, to help with fatigue. It is also used as an anti-viral, for instance, when first exposed to the flu.
I don't have any side effects that I know of, and overall have felt better on amantadine than on Plaquenil, for whatever reason. I think I have more energy and less fatigue or weakness.
I will be starting it in about a week.
My LLMD told me to take it in the morning, as it might rev me up, or give me energy, or something like that.
I will take amantadine in the morning and then a dose of plaquenil in the evening. (Instead of 2 doses of plaquenil). All to be combined w. Zithro.
Let me know how it goes, ok?
