Since I met with that infectious disease specialist who told me I might be experiencing side-effects vs herx from doxy, I am so confused.

Is it possible to be feeling like one of my biggest problem symptoms is worse from a side-effect?(can't walk good because of stiff and weaker legs now; I hang onto anything!) How can you know the difference between herx and side-effect?

Any thoughts on this? I'm lost trying to figure it out...

Side effects are usually things like rashes or stomach pain....[can't think of others]

But a herx is suspected when the symptom is a symptom known to be a Lyme symptom. Your worsening of your usual Lyme symptom is seemingly a classic herx.

Sometimes, however, you will have symptoms [which are also Lyme symptoms] that you've never had before.

Hope this helps!

****I am not a doctor and I am not authorized to give medical advice on this specific matter.****

Having said that - -

In checking my drug handbook, I find no SE, such as the one you have described, listed under Doxy.

You will find that pharmacists are much more knowledgeable in this area than are most physicians. I would call a local pharmacist and get their input.

I am with Lymetoo. Sounds like a herx to me.

Is your physician Lyme literate?

I had a migraine for 8 months which turned out to be a SE of Doxy.

I'm thinking that it must be a herx reaction too...my leg weakness is much worse, and it's hard to believe that a side-effect can do that.

Thanks for everything. I hope this will pass...5 weeks and counting...
