This past week my legs, feet and ankles have swollen like balloons. Been on abx for 4 months.

Is lyme a possible contributer to edema? Do others out there have this problem?

My LLMD gave me some diarectics, from my request over the phone, which I have taken for the past 3 days. I see no sign of change.
Have an appointment with him later this week.

Once had a neurologist tell me that edema is only caused bu kidney, heart or liver failure. He was the same neurologist that told me after a 15 minute appointment that I had lupus of the brain.

There are a lot of variables in the cause of edema. I have problems sometimes. Just comes and goes.... As Lyme is a multisystem disease, I'd say it could be a Lyme thing.

Increased sodium intake is a key for some people. In addition to the causes your doctor gave, I believe it could also be due to endocrine imbalance, etc.

Have you tried elevating your legs? That usually helps.

This has been a problem of mine for four years. Swelling usually just in the right foot/ankle, but sometimes both left and right.

I noticed that since I have been on Ketek/Cedax/Plaquenil (just a month now with all three) the problem is abating.

It's probably just a question of getting on the right abx.

Now if we could just get rid of all the other symptoms ...
