Was at my LLMD yesterday and was telling him that my ID doc needed more substantial evidence in order to put me on IV. Well, I'm scrapping my cr@ppy ID doc. I had a SPECT done 2 weeks ago and still haven't gotten a call back from her. As it I want to even postpone getting better another day, nevermind weeks. Sticking with the LLMD. Anyways, he said another great test to show Lyme is a blood test known as the CD-57 that is very specific in terms of showing damage done to white blood cells by Lyme. He said it's also very useful because it is a good gauge in terms of whether you will have a tendency to relapse. I thought it was very interesting. Has anyone had it done?

Yes, I believe that many LLMD's use this test to help determine how well the body is fighting Lyme, and also to assess recovery levels.

The "CD-57 Panel" was developed by Dr. S in San Francisco. When a friend started seeing him about three years ago, he told him that he had done this test on many patients and only saw the low levels in Lyme disease.

I don't believe that enough is yet understood to hold this test out as definitive in any way, but perhaps with time, more will be understood.

My CD-57 came back with flying colors...meaning that I had good natural killer cell activity and I was full blown into a relapse feeling like crapola.

Check out these threads I found for you. Looks like lots of folks have had this test around here and it doesnt seem to point anywhere. ????
